When Amy Carmichael began passing out bread and tracts in the Belfast slums she began to see things in a different way, she hadn’t thought human beings could live the way they did in the slums.
She decided to do something that would help people who knew nothing about God.

She traveled to different countries as a missionary to spread the gospel to many desperate people. Amy lived in India the rest of her life, where she faced many trials.
Slowly she began with other Christian women to travel to many villages in India spreading the word of God to the Hindus.

This book brings into focus the power of prayer. Amy always prayed and relied on God to meet the needs of the mission they had started for the girls and women who had become Christians.
She made an enormous impact on all of the children she raised, and showed them the eternal love of Jesus Christ.

Amy was most widely known as the Child-Stealing Amma. She cared for children and saved most of them from an appalling life of becoming destined to temple prostitution.
And what is very admiring about Amy’s strong character was her unwavering and constant desire to spread the gospel to those who were of the lower class in India known as the “untouchables”. She had the courage to ignore the caste system, which upset many Hindus.

This book shows how God used her to reach out to people who were desperately lost and needed to know Christ in addition to an in-depth view of Amy Carmichael’s life.
Great read for 10 and up!
