Victory in Christ

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.."

2 Timothy 3:16-17

“I will love You, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies."

Psalm 18:1-3

I trust in God, no matter come what may,
For life eternal in His hand,
He holds the key that opens up the way,
That will lead me to the promised land.

Ref:
Each step I take I know that He will guide me;
To higher ground He ever leads me on.
Until some day the last step will be taken.
Each step I take just leads me closer home.

Preparing for Victory

      God has shown us some wonderful ways to abide in His presence in the midst of all kinds of distractions or discouragements. One way is simply to memorize and silently sing His hymns. To help bring them to mind when I need them, I have listed my favorite hymns in alphabetical order. Now, when I wait in line somewhere or ride in a car, I simply follow the alphabet. In His quieting presence, I can silently sing my favorite hymns to myself and to my Lord.

Most of the links below led to the old Cyberhymnal, so they are now broken. The restored links will be colored dark red.

Years ago, when I first memorized “Jesus, I am resting, resting...” (the hymn China missionary Hudson Taylor would sing to himself when he couldn’t sleep at night), I struggled to remember the start of each new verse. But when I noted the beginning letter of the four verses, they formed a familiar word: JOSE.  With such reminders, I have no problem going right through this and other truth-filled hymns:

Verse 1. Jesus, I am resting, in the joy of what Thou art...

Verse 2. O how great Thy lovingkindness, vaster, broader than the sea....

Verse 3. Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus, I behold Thee as Thou art....

Verse 4. Ever lift Thy face upon me, as I work and wait for Thee.

We will continue to post hymns each week .  Every verse will be linked to a Scripture He shows us. May God use these verses to bless you with His Truth and Presence! And may they prepare each of us for the hard times ahead -- especially for the hostilities toward Biblical Christianity certain to follow today's spiritual slide away from God's Truth. and ways.
