The Psalms of the Day

When you divide the 150 psalms into the (30) days of the month, you have 5 psalms each day. On the 1st day of each month, you read Psalms 1, 31, 61, 91 and 121. Find today's selection below. In order not to violate copyrights, we have tried to shorten each psalm -- presenting the most relevant verses. But the change is slight, since all of God's Word is so good.

Psalm 5

Give ear to my words, O Lord,
Consider my meditation.
Give heed to the voice of my cry,
My King and my God,
For  to You I will pray.

My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord;
In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up.

For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness,
Nor shall evil dwell with You.
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight;
You hate all workers of iniquity....

Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness....
Make Your way straight before my face....

...let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You.
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;
With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Psalm 35 (David)

Plead my cause, O Lord, with those who strive with me;
Fight against those who fight against me....
Say to my soul, “I am your salvation.”...

Fierce witnesses rise up;
They ask me things that I do not know.
They reward me evil for good, to the sorrow of my soul.
But as for me, when they were sick....
I paced about as though he were my friend or brother;
I bowed down heavily, as one who mourns for his mother.
But in my adversity they rejoiced and gathered together;
Attackers gathered against me, and I did not know it....

This You have seen, O Lord; do not keep silence.
O Lord, do not be far from me.

Psalm 65   (David)

Blessed is the man You choose,

and cause to approach You,
That he may dwell in Your courts....

By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us,
O God of our salvation....
Who established the mountains by His strength,
Being clothed with power;
You who still the noise of the seas,
The noise of their waves, and the tumult of the peoples.

You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it;
The river of God is full of water;

You provide their grain....
You crown the year with Your goodness....

Psalm 95

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!

Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving....

For the Lord is the great God.....

The sea is His, for He made it;

And His hands formed the dry land.

Oh come, let us worship and bow down;

Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture,

And the sheep of His hand.

Today, if you will hear His voice:

Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,

As in the day of trial in the wilderness,

When your fathers tested Me;

They tried Me, though they saw My work.

For forty years I was grieved with that generation,

And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts,

And they do not know My ways.’

So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’ "

Psalm 125

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
Which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
So the Lord surrounds His people
From this time forth and forever.
