Beholding Jesus

"... if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
"For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."
2 Corinthians 4:3-6

"....we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord." 2 Corinthians 3:18

"...now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face."  1 Corinthians 13:12

By His Spirit, God has "opened our eyes"

"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.”  1 Corinthians 2:12

"...as it is written: 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.' But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit...." 1 Corinthians 2:9-10

But we cannot "see" His full glory now

"[Moses] said, Please, show me 'Your glory.' ...
"But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.' And the Lord said, 'Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by.  Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.'”
Exodus 33:18, 20-23

"For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face."  1 Corinthians 13:12

One glorious day, we will see Him fully -- face to face!

"And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever."  Revelation 22:1-5

Seeking His face

"Restore us, O God of hosts; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!" Psalm 80:7

“One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple....
When You said, 'Seek My face,'
My heart said to You, 'Your face, Lord, I will seek.'
'Do not hide Your face from me."
Psalm 27:4, 8-9

"Make Your face shine upon Your servant." Psalm 31:16

"Restore us, O God of hosts; cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved!" Psalm 80:7

"Make Your face shine upon Your servant, and teach me Your statutes." Psalm 119:135

He sends us to bring His light to a lost world

"I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’" Acts 26:17-18

By His grace, those who have received His Spirit can see

"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.”  1 Corinthians 2:12

"And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life." 1 John 5:20

"...we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
"But as it is written: 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.'
"But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit."
1 Corinthians 2:6-10

"As for me, I will see Your face in righteousness;
I shall be satisfied when I awake in Your likeness."
Psalm 17:15

"You... set me before Your face forever." Psalm 41:12
