Our response to God's Holiness and Sovereignty

"God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints,

And to be held in reverence by all those around Him."  Psalm 89:7

"Hear this now, O foolish people, without understanding,

Who have eyes and see not, and who have ears and hear not:

Do you not fear Me?’ says the Lord.

Will you not tremble at My presence,

Who have placed the sand as the bound of the sea....

But this people has a defiant and rebellious heart;

They have revolted and departed.

They do not say in their heart, 'Let us now fear the Lord our God....

'An astonishing and horrible thing has been committed in the land:

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule by their own power;

And My people love to have it so.

But what will you do in the end?" Jeremiah 5:22-30

"...each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. And Moses said to Aaron, 'This is what the Lord spoke, saying:

‘By those who come near Me, I must be regarded as holy;

And before all the people, I must be glorified.’ "  Leviticus 10:2-3

"Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name;

Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness."  Psalm 29:2

"...what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God."  2 Corinthians 6:14-16

"He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly,
He who despises the gain of oppressions,
Who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes,
Who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed,
And shuts his eyes from seeing evil:
He will dwell on high;
"His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks."
Isaiah 33:15

"Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean."  Ezekiel 22:26

“ thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God." Ephesians 5:20

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure."
Philippians 2:12

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fearFor our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:28

“Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, 'Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,' says the Lord. And again, 'The Lord will judge His people.' It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Hebrews 10:29

“For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness. Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it."  Hebrews 12:10

Oh come, let us worship and bow down;

Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

For He is our God,

And we are the people of His pasture,

And the sheep of His hand.

Today, if you will hear His voice:

'Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion....'" Psalm 95:6-8
