December 2007

A season for all to work for peace: "During this holiday season, millions of us will be celebrating, in our own ways, God coming into our world. Our Jewish sisters and brothers are in the midst of their celebration of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, as they recall the victory of the Maccabees.... Our Muslim brothers and sisters will, at the end of December, celebrate Eid al-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, which lasts for three days and commemorates Ibrahim's (Abraham's) willingness to obey God by sacrificing his son.... Our African-American sisters and brothers will celebrate Kwanzaa, which recalls seven principles to live by: unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity and faith...

"Isaiah speaks to people of all faiths and all people of good will....Isaiah is a prophet for our time.... He could see grace and goodness in the world; he called on the people to see what he saw and to have the courage to overcome war and conflict - over race or poverty or culture or religion or any ideal or emotion that divides us."

Please consider what Isaiah actually said: Rejecting God's warnings See also  "Come out from them ... be separate"

Christian leaders betray Christ for world peace: "Once again, leaders from the so-called 'church growth movement' are demonstrating for us the Hegelian Dialectic - that transformational Marxist process of compromise and consensus... which seeks to rid the world of its divisive absolutes in the interest of global peace and unity....

"Among other things, the dialectic process redefines 'love' to mean tolerance instead of obedience, and calls Christianity and Islam 'Abrahamic faiths' as if the two groups have some moral obligation to unite under a god of common ground....

"Jesus Christ is not the Son of Allah; and to even imply that He is by claiming to love the same 'God' as Muslims is not only being dangerously deceitful - it's blasphemy! But that's what the Hegelian Dialectic does to the Christian faith - it unites opposites and enemies under a guise of goodness." See Come out from them and be separate and next link:

Repeated. Christian Leaders Invite Muslims to Love God, Neighbors Together: "Christian leaders across denominational lines responded to the unprecedented open letter signed last month by 138 representative Muslim leaders with their own letter.... Signers include Jim Wallis, president of Sojourners; Rick Warren... John Stott... Leith Anderson, president of the National Association of Evangelicals....

"Christian leaders urged for an interfaith dialogue that moves beyond 'polite' ecumenical talks between selected leaders. Instead, leaders of both faiths should hold dialogues to build relations that will 'reshape' the two communities.... 'The future of the world depends on our ability as Christians and Muslims to live together in peace.” See The Rising World Religion

John Stott, rector emeritus of All Souls Church in London; and Leith Anderson, president of the National Association of Evangelicals....

"Christian leaders urged for an interfaith dialogue that moves beyond 'polite' ecumenical talks between selected leaders. Instead, leaders of both faiths should hold dialogues to build relations that will 'reshape' the two communities to 'genuinely reflect our common love for God and for one another,' the Christian letter stated. 'The future of the world depends on our ability as Christians and Muslims to live together in peace.... If we fail to make every effort to make peace and come together in harmony you correctly remind us that ‘our eternal souls’ are at stakes....'” See The Rising World Religion

Obama Links Faith to Environmentalism: "...Obama said Sunday that his religious beliefs influence his plans for how to protect the environment. Speaking... at what he called an 'interfaith forum on climate change,' the Illinois senator said God has entrusted humans with the responsibility of caring for the earth, and 'we are not acting as good stewards...'

"Meeting the threat of global climate change will take hard work and faith, Obama said. 'Not a blind faith, not a faith of mere words, not a faith that ignores science, but an active searching faith,' said Obama, a member of the United Church of Christ." See Is Earth Our Mother? and UNESCO's Declaration on the Role of Religion

Open Letter to Tony Campolo: "You seemed to suggest that Muslims might obtain salvation apart from belief in Christ. You even cited John 10:16, naming Muslims as the sheep Jesus speaks of 'that are not of this fold.' You went on to say that on judgment day the eternal destiny of Muslims would be decided—not on whether they accepted or rejected Christ—but on whether they performed good or evil deeds.... I have friends risking their lives in repressive countries to bring the soul-saving message of Christ to Muslims. I wonder how they would respond to your assertion that Muslims are already on their way to heaven." See Chronicles of Narnia and  The Rising World Religion

Hindu Council Attacks ‘Illegal’ Church Ban on Yoga: "The Hindu Council UK (HCUK), the largest national network of Hindu organisations within the UK, is considering whether a ban on yoga classes at St James’ Church and the Silver Street Baptist Church in Taunton, Somerset, may breach the Equality Act 2006.... Along with other faith bodies, HCUK debated and contributed to the Equality Act before it became law. In these debates it was agreed unanimously from an interfaith perspective that the hire of religious premises should not restrict multi-cultural events without good reason, and that faiths themselves should participate in such activities.....

"HCUK’s spokesperson on Yoga... added: 'Yoga is one of the oldest known medical systems... and it is now at the forefront of holistic and integrated medicine in the West. It is very disappointing that such medieval-like irrational prejudice is still allowed to flourish in the Christian Church.'...

"Rev Farrar of Silver Street Baptist Church has previously said: '...If it was just a group of children singing nursery rhymes, there wouldn’t be a problem but she’s called it yoga and therefore there is a dividing line we’re not prepared to cross.'... The Rev Tim Jones [said]: '...Yoga has its roots in Hinduism, and attempts to use exercises and relaxation techniques to put a person into a calm frame of mind - in touch with some kind of impersonal spiritual reality. '" See Yoga

The Indigenous Peoples Movement: "A new missiology is being promoted in mission work and it is spreading quickly. It is called 'redeeming the cultures,' 'cultural identification,' 'first nations' and a number of other terms. The new idea being presented is that God has left certain elements in every culture that are redeemable qualities, pathways to Himself.... They teach that we can bring Jesus Christ to the people and then leave them to worship God in their own cultural and religious ways." The next link illustrates the kind of violence and injustice that was rampant around the world before the spread of Christianity.

The Name of God: "Wouldn't Allah be better? That is what a Dutch Bishop recently wondered aloud when he suggested that people of all faiths should call God by his Islamic designation." See Mocking God and the next link:

Your Best Life Now'? Not On This Day In History: "Today we recall one of the bloodiest events in church history, yielding the death of as many as 100,000 Christians at the hands of those who sought the extermination of Christianity. It's an event that ecumenical emergents and ECT advocates would prefer to put aside. Still we remember....

"Some Roman Catholic, more humane than the rest, when he saw the heaps of corpses, exclaimed, 'They surely were not men, but devils in the shape of men, who had done this.'... The better to perpetuate the memory of the massacre, Pope Gregory caused a medal to be commemorated." See Hope in Christ

Changing God's Name: "The above quotation is an example of the most horrifying new heresy to come out of the 'redeeming cultures' movement.... It illustrates the extent to which Scripture and history are being re-written to accommodate a new body of doctrine for a new global church age. In this particular case there is a multi-pronged attack going on against the biblical names for God which not only substantially erodes the Scriptural foundation, but actually replaces brick and mortar with pagan idols!" See Idols and unholy gods

Christian groups and evangelicals seek common code on conversions: "Evangelical groups have joined efforts spearheaded by Roman Catholic, Orthodox and mainstream Protestant churches to create a common code for religious conversions that would preserve the right of Christians to spread their religion while avoiding conflict among different faiths.... The code aims to ease tensions with Muslims, Hindus and other religious groups that fear losing adherents and resort to punishments as extreme as imprisonment and even death for converts from their faith and foreign missionaries..... "

The true Gospel has always offended the world system and "churches" that conform to its ways. That's why Christians continue to face persecution around the world. Removing "the offense of the cross" only serves to silence God's faithful missionaries.

As In Heaven, So On Earth: "One does not have to wade very far into the waters of Dominionism before encountering an old Hermetic heresy that heaven and earth can become united, as illustrated by the quotation above. This doctrine is now rampantly taught throughout the New Age Movement and the New Apostolic Reformation, as well as mission organizations and political left and right Dominionist movements.
"This doctrine is key because it creates a point of synthesis and syncretism between many many religious groups, Christian and non-Christian. It is also easy to work with. By simply changing an emphasis in language, one can begin to alter the traditional doctrine to include a new theology. But the theology isn't new. It is old."

First Lady Laura Bush Announces Inter-Faith Malaria Project in Mozambique: "The first lady announced a three-year, nearly $2 million grant to IRCMM, which was first established by 10 national faith leaders in Maputo.... 'In her speech, Laura Bush highlighted the importance and potential of mobilizing communities of faith to change their behavior and save lives. “Faith communities exist in every village in the country; therefore, faith leaders can reach their members and impact their attitudes and behavior related to malaria,” she remarked. An inter-faith coalition, IRCMM members include leaders from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Roman Catholic Church, the Islamic Congress of Mozambique, the Islamic Council of Mozambique, the Anglican Church, the United Methodist Church, the Hindu Community, Assemblies of God, the Christian Council of Mozambique, and the Baha’i Community." See Warren's P.E.A.C.E. Plan--Part 3 & Marching toward Global Solidarity

Hindu Prayer Will Open Senate Session in July: "Rajan Zed, a Hindu chaplain from Nevada, on will become the first Hindu to deliver the morning prayer.... 'I believe that despite our philosophical differences, we should work together for the common objectives of human improvement, love, and respect for others,' Zed said...

"Zed, a U.S. citizen originally from India, said he has not finalized the prayer but that it will likely quote Hindu scriptures.... He said he plans to start and end the prayers with ''OM,' the mystical syllable containing the universe, which in Hinduism is used to introduce and conclude religious work.' While the prayer will draw from Hindu religious texts, Zed said it will be 'universal in approach.'...

"In 1992, Wallace Mohammed became the first Muslim leader to deliver the invocation." See America's Spiritual Slide

I am both Muslim and Christian: "...on Fridays, the Rev. Ann Holmes Redding ties on a black headscarf, preparing to pray with her Muslim group on First Hill. On Sunday mornings, Redding puts on the white collar of an Episcopal priest.
"Redding, who until recently was director of faith formation at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, has been a priest for more than 20 years.... [F]or the last 15 months, she's also been a Muslim — drawn to the faith after an introduction to Islamic prayers left her profoundly moved. ... 'It wasn't about intellect,' she said. 'All I know is the calling of my heart....'

"Redding's bishop, the Rt. Rev. Vincent Warner, says he accepts Redding as an Episcopal priest and a Muslim, and that he finds the interfaith possibilities exciting.... She has never believed in original sin. And for years she struggled with the nature of Jesus' divinity....  In fall 2005, a local Muslim leader gave a talk at the cathedral, then prayed before those attending. Redding was moved.... Then in the spring, at a St. Mark's interfaith class, another Muslim leader taught a chanted prayer and led a meditation on opening one's heart.... 'I was in a situation that I could not handle by any other means, other than a total surrender to God,' she said. [But which god?]....

"She believes Jesus is the son of God insofar as all humans are the children of God, and that Jesus is divine, just as all humans are divine — because God dwells in all humans. ...  She does believe that Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected.... 'He has connected me with God,' she said." See Five Types of Religions

Another Gospel—Unity Instead of Truth: "A.W. Pink wrote of another gospel and what it often looks like. We can identify this in any number of false teachings today where a Global Peace Plan is substituted for the Gospel of Jesus Christ... and where emerging church leaders tell us to find God in a new social gospel instead of His Word. ...

"Pink said: 'The gospel of Satan is not a system of revolutionary principles, nor yet a program of anarchy. It does not promote strife and war, but aims at peace and unity. It... fosters the fraternal spirit whereby the human race is regarded as one great ‘brotherhood.’... It aims to make this world such a comfortable and congenial habitat that Christ’s absence from it will not be felt and God will not be needed." See Creating Community through a New Way of Thinking

Hindu appointed to run Christian religion studies: "A college affiliated with a Christian denomination [Lutheran]has appointed to head its religion department a practicing Hindu who believes that some forms of Christian ministry produce violence. Anantanand Rambachan, who has taught religion and philosophy at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., since 1985, now will become the first non-Christian to head the religion department..." World Church: United Nations Wakes up to Religion: "'There is no better time than now for inter-religious dialogue and peace,' said the Ambassador of the Philippines, Hilario G. Davide, speaking at the Report on Interreligious Dialogue held at the UN on April 18. The meeting, organized by the Committee of Religious Non-governmental Organizations at the UN, will not be the last to urge UN member states to reflect on steps toward more peaceable, cooperative relations among world religions and faith groups....

"Emmanuel Kattan, of the Alliance of Civilizations, promoted the importance of cross-cultural understanding and inter-faith dialogue." See Establishing a Global Spirituality

The Georgia Guidestones: "Engraved in eight different languages on the four giant stones that support the common capstone are 10 Guides, or commandments. That monument is alternately referred to as The Georgia Guidestones, or the American Stonehenge.... Indeed, the Georgia Guidestones are used for occult ceremonies and mystic celebrations to this very day....

"The message of the Georgia Guidestones: 1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature. 2. Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity. 3. Unite humanity with a living new language. 4. Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason....

"Yoko Ono, the widow of John Lennon, was recently quoted as referring to the American Stonehenge, saying: '...it's a nice time to reaffirm ourselves, knowing all the beautiful things that are in this country and the Georgia Stones symbolize that." See The Earth Charter's Unholy Ark

Sadhu Sundar Singh: "In 1925 Sundar wrote, 'If the Divine spark in the soul cannot be destroyed, then we need despair of no sinner... Since God created men to have fellowship with Himself, they cannot for ever be separated from Him... After long wandering, and by devious paths, sinful man will at last return to Him in whose Image he was created; for this is his final destiny.'...
"In February, 1929, the year Sundar disappeared on his final missionary trip to Tibet, he was interviewed by several theology students in Calcutta, India, where he answered their questions: (Question #1) What did the Sadhu think should be our attitude towards non-Christian religions? -- 'The old habit of calling them 'heathen' should go. The worst 'heathen' were among us [Christians]...'"

Statement of Bishops Visiting the Holy Land 'in solidarity with the local Church': "Our belief in the one God compels us to work for the welfare of two peoples, Israelis and Palestinians, and members of three religions -- Jews, Christians and Muslims -- who belong to the one family of God."  (Jan. 19, 2007). But only Christians know Jesus Christ. See He is Lord!

We didn't leave the Episcopal Church; rather, it left us: "Some leaders expressly deny the central articles of the faith -- saying that traditional theism is 'dead,' the incarnation is 'nonsense,' the resurrection of Jesus is a fiction, the understanding of the cross is 'a barbarous idea,' the Bible is 'pure propaganda'....

"Episcopal revisionism negates the authority of faith. The sola scriptura ('by the scriptures alone') doctrine of the Reformation church has been abandoned for the sola cultura ('by the culture alone')....  No longer under authority, the Episcopal Church today is either its own authority or finds its authority in the shifting winds of intellectual and social fashion....

"Episcopal revisionism severs the continuity of faith.... Episcopal revisionism destroys the credibility of faith.... Episcopal revisionism obliterates the very identity of faith. When the great truths of the Bible and the creeds are abandoned and there is no limit to what can be believed in their place, then the point is reached when there is little identifiably Christian in Episcopal revisionism."  Recognize the Child Jesus in All Children, urges Pope: 'The wonder we feel before the enchantment of Christmas is reflected in a certain sense in the wonder that every birth arouses and invites us to recognize the Child Jesus in all children, who are the joy of the Church and the hope of the world,' the Holy Father told his young guests. ... The Pope added: 'In the face of the little Jesus, we contemplate the face of God, which is not revealed through force or power, but in weakness and the fragile constitution of a child.'"

But the life of Jesus is not universally within all children -- or adults. That's why He calls us to share the gospel and teach our children! How can people be "born again" by faith if they don't yet know God? The answer is not found in the "good works" prompted by the Patriarch of Jerusalem. See the next two links:

Topical Index of Scriptures. Salvation & Justification: Received by Faith - Confirmed by Works. These Scriptures expose the deception in the next link:

Christmas Message of Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem: 'Our Fundamental Need Is for Peace, Justice, Freedom': "Yes, we are in need of solidarity... But our fundamental need is for peace, justice, freedom, and an end to the occupation. [That's what the people in Israel believed when Jesus was born as a man. They wanted an earthly liberator, not a heavenly King]

"...every person, even soldiers and political leaders, have the capacity to appreciate love, salvation, and life. But for that to happen, a conversion must take place, a conversion from death to life, from viewing the other as an enemy and a murderer to viewing him as a brother and a giver of life. Our political leaders also must ask the Baptist: 'And what is it that we should do to find salvation for ourselves and for all those who have put their destiny into our hands?' They too must be prepared to receive the same answer: 'Do not oppress anyone...' (Luke 3, 14). ... They must listen to the voice of the oppressed in this Holy Land, to the voice of those who have died, of those who are still threatened by death and humiliation."  See Warren's P.E.A.C.E. Plan and UN Goals - Whom do we serve?

Latin American politicians suddenly finding religion: "When Venezuela's leftist populist President Hugo Chávez cited Jesus repeatedly in his election victory speech earlier this week, he joined a growing number of Latin American politicians who are embracing religion -- or at least pretending to do so. Are they sincere, or are we seeing an epidemic of religious populism?... 'The Kingdom of Christ is the kingdom of love, of peace, the kingdom of justice, of solidarity, brotherhood, the kingdom of socialism,' Chávez said. '`This is the kingdom of the future of Venezuela.'

"Weeks earlier, Nicaragua's leftist president-elect Daniel Ortega had won his country's Nov. 5 election by dropping his earlier Marxist rhetoric and running as a religious Catholic.... 'What we're seeing in Nicaragua is a permanent intromission of the church in state affairs.'...

"The growing political manipulation of religious fervor in the region -- as well as in the United States -- makes me nervous. Will Chávez now push his new plan to reform the constitution to allow his indefinite re-election in the name of Jesus Christ?" See Transforming the World by Subverting the Church

Thomas Kinkade - A Prayer for Peace: "My newest work, A Prayer for Peace, is a poignant reminder that peace in our world is always possible for those who believe and pray. The dramatic figure of a prophet occupies the rocky heights above the city. To my mind, he is a Christ figure, but I have treated him with a deep spirituality that could well be embraced by people of other beliefs. Illuminated by a radiant moon, this holy person prays with all the fervor of his faith, that the warm glow of moonlight can wrap the walled city in a spiritual blanket of serenity." While 'the last Christian generation' is upon us, the first Jesus generation has returned: [Not true!] "Two weeks ago we traveled into northern India.... We are having dinner with 8 young men, all Buddhists, who are being mentored/discipled to follow Jesus.

"Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim or Christian must be seen as cultural, religious backgrounds. Not one of these cultural backgrounds must be forsaken in order to be a follower of Jesus. Jesus trumps it all! He is all-inclusive and isn’t owned by Christianity. I love what Brian McLaren wrote in A Generous Orthodoxy, '...I don't believe making disciples must equal making adherents to the Christian religion.'" See Heresy in High Places

California First Lady Maria Shriver announces the Dalai Lama Will Deliver Historic Address at the 20th Annual California Governor & First Lady’s Conference on Women: "'I’m very honored that Maria Shriver asked me to come and speak to the women of California,' the Dalai Lama said. 'I have always believed that women have a unique role in society. Women have a special capacity to lead us to a more peaceful world with compassion, affection and kindness.'...

"During their August 4th meeting, the Dalai Lama discussed the themes he will touch on in his speech. He will encourage the women in attendance to be mindful of the interconnectedness to all things, to practice compassion with confidence and courage, and to balance their fast-paced, busy lives through inner reflection. ... 'I am so grateful to His Holiness for accepting my invitation...' said Shriver. 'When I met with His Holiness in Dharamsala, I was particularly moved by his belief that women are the caretakers and educators of our future citizens and society.'" The New Gospel Campaign for Peace: "To further encourage people to accept the teachings of the New Age/New Gospel/New Spirituality, Neale Donald Walsch founded a new organization in 2003 called Humanity’s Team. The expressed purpose of Humanity’s Team was 'to change the world' and this was briefly outlined in New Connexion: A Journal of Conscious Evolution: Its purpose is to change the world.... by creating the space of possibility for a New Spirituality.... This is a spirituality that... could change forever the way we interact with each other, bringing peace and harmony to our planet at last....
"Ironically, in 2003, when Neale Donald Walsch founded his worldwide Humanity’s Team on the principle of self-declared 'servant leadership,' self-professing Christian businessman Ken Blanchard also founded his worldwide '
Lead Like Jesus' movement on this same principle....” See Heresy in High Places and The State of the World according to Gorbachev

Macroshift - Navigating the Transformation to a Sustainable World: "The Club of Budapest, founded in 1993 by Ervin Laszlo, is an informal association of ethical globally as well as locally active opinion leaders in various fields of art, science, religion, and culture, dedicated to our common future. Its members include the Dalai Lama, Václav Havel, Mikhail Gorbachev, Desmond Tutu, Elie Wiesel.... They place their names and energy into the service of what they consider the crucial mission of our time: catalyzing the emergence of adapted vision and values in society by evolving our individual and collective consciousness." See The Club of Budapest.

Spiritual Capital: "Spiritual Capital is an interdisciplinary social scientific research initiative on the economic and social consequences of religion and spirituality, made possible with funding from the John Templeton Foundation. The program seeks to integrate the concept of spiritual capital into the human sciences by supporting rigorous and innovative research to build a network of scholars for a new field of study."

What is spiritual capital? "The concept of spiritual capital builds on recent research on social capital, which shows that religion is a major factor in the formation of social networks and trust....

"Scholars have already made important advances in the areas of human capital and social capital....

"Broadly, spiritual capital may be construed to refer to that aspect of social capital linked with religion and/or spirituality. In one sense, then, spiritual capital might be a subset of social capital."

Yoga Prayer: An Embodied Christian Practice: "For centuries, yoga has been used to prepare the body for meditation and communion with the divine....Imagine what it would feel like to pray with your whole body - how powerful your prayer could become.

What a lie! God answers our prayers when we pray with faith in His power and wisdom. In contrast, man's presumption that yoga disciplines might build empower our prayers would only turn Him away. See Psalm 66:18-20 and Prayer

Capitalism and democracy could be lost without faith: "Very interesting to see what Rick Warren is doing now in Africa.... His test case is Rwanda, and his plan is to bring together government, business, and faith-based organizations to bear on these deep, deep problems of poverty. It won’t work without all three because all three must come together on this. I was talking to Rick recently and I love what he said about this notion of free enterprise and capitalism: 'That we were created in God’s image; we were created by a creator; ergo we were born to create.'"

No, that may sound logical, but it's not. God did not make us little gods! We are born to trust God, obey His Word, and love and follow Him. He is the Creator. We are the blessed recipient of what He has made and given us! See Self-esteem & 'creativity'  and Warren's P.E.A.C.E. Plan and UN Goals - Part 2

Inclusive Spirituality - New Age Transformation: "While the New Age is commonly thought by many to be a loosely knit network of spiritual activists working toward a common goal, it is really a very well oiled machine with definite goals to bring about a global spirituality, enveloping every part of humanity.
"Wisdom University is the educational arm of the State of the World Forum. The university's primary goal is to develop leadership that has been specifically trained in New Age spirituality. With Jim Garrison at the helm of WU it is easy to see the long term agenda with his continuing role at the State of the World Forum."
See Heresy in high places and Gorbachev's Plan for a United World

Contemplative Prayer - Seducing Spirits and a doctrine of devils: "Mystical practices are now widely embraced and taught in secular and professed Christian seminaries, colleges, universities, organizations, ministries and seminars, etc. throughout the United States.  Academic promoters have introduced these practices into the fields of medicine, business and law while countless secular and Christian books, magazines, seminars, and retreats are teaching lay people how to incorporate them into their daily lives. Promoters promise physical, mental and spiritual benefits desiring to bring about positive social change.

"One promoter of mystical practices, the 'Center for Contemplative Mind in Society,' states: They 'can play a part in the positive transformation of governments, businesses, and organizations. We are dedicated to the idea that contemplative awareness, when incorporated into contemporary life, can help produce a more just, compassionate, and reflective society.'” See Mysticism

Falwell: Jews Don't Need Christ to Get to Heaven: "Now we have the Jerusalem Post reporting on Jerry Falwell's acceptance of something called the 'Dual Covenant'. Jews have their own salvation track according to this new teaching. Imagine if the Apostle Stephen had only known this. He would never have had to be stoned by angry Jewish leaders after he told them the truth. He could have just told them about this 'dual covenant' and they could have formed a pro-Israel task force together." Salvation

Opening Ceremony protocol: "During the ancient Olympic Games in Greece, a sacred flame burned at the altar of Zeus, in whose honor the Games were held.... The flame itself is lit during a ceremony at the site of the ancient Olympic stadium in Olympia, on the Greek Peloponnese. Women dressed in robes similar to those worn by the ancient Greeks use a curved mirror to light the torch naturally with rays of the sun. The high priestess then presents the torch to the first relay runner." See The Greek Olympics - From mythical dreams to sobering realities

January 2006

In Africa, Islam and Christianity are growing - and blending: "...worshipers at 'The True Message of God Mission' .. begin their worship by praying at the Jesus alcove and then 'running their deliverance' - sprinting laps around the mosque's mosaic-tiled courtyard, praying to the one God for forgiveness and help.... This group -- originally called 'Chris-lam-herb' for its mix-and-match approach to Christianity, Islam, and traditional medicine -- is a window on an ongoing religious ferment in Africa. ...

"...people here 'believed in... gods who resided in trees or rivers and helped or hurt locals daily.... During the 20th century, fully 40 percent of Africa's population moved from traditional religions to 'different shades of Christianity.'" See Establishing a Global Spirituality

The call to global oneness: "...notice how Biblical truth mingle with an interfaith idealism. Some parts sound almost like UNESCO's Declaration on the role of religion in a Culture of Peace. This dialectic blend resembles the serpents temptation in the garden of Eden: a bit of truth mixed with horrendous lies that alter the entire context of God's message of hope." Don't Be Deceived!

Statement of the Interreligious and International Federation for World Peace (IIFWP): The  IIFWP is an educational, non-governmental organization with Special Consultative Status in the United Nations’ Economic and Social Council. IIFWP is dedicated to promoting peace. Its founding motto is 'The hope of all ages is a unified world of peace.' ...IIFWP is founded by Dr. Sun Myung Moon...." See Ban truth - Reap Tyranny

Moon's followers threaten legal action: "Dr Moon and his group had left Samoa bound for Fiji when his aircraft was turned away because government had refused him entry.... Home Affairs chief executive officer... said that Dr Moon’s doctrines were considered misleading, repugnant and divisive and would affect the peace, good order, public safety and the public morality of Fiji....

“Reverend Moon is on a global tour of 100 cities that began in September to promote a new international body for the resolution of conflict, Universal Peace Federation." See the next link:

Peace Initiatives: "IIFWP initiated a unique peace process that starts from the most internal points of convergence--from the most profound critical convictions that Jehovah/God/Allah is the one Origin, Source of all, and whose heart is like that of a parent to all humankind. Rather than religion being divisive, it becomes the starting point and core of the peace process." See The Rising World Religion

'False Dawn' exposes powerful, secretive movement for new global faith: "What do George W. Bush, George Soros, the Rev. Sun Myung Moon and the Dalai Lama have in common? All have thrown their support to the United Religions Initiative.... [T[he interfaith movement, including the URI, is being promoted by globalist and New Age reformers who favor erosion of national sovereignty, marginalization of traditional religions, establishment of 'global governance,' and creation of a new, Earth-based 'global spirituality' – in effect, a one-world religion....

"The 'anti-tradition' weakens and dissolves traditional spiritualities, after which the 'counter-tradition' sets up a counterfeit in their place....The 'counter-tradition' is making inroads on the political and cultural Right, as much as it is doing on the Left." Heresy in high places

WEA Gathers Evangelicals – Support For Millennium Goals: "Today evangelicals and Pentecostals total 850 million; WEA (World Evangelical Alliance)represents 380 million of them. The Alliance wants to gather all of them under the WEA umbrella.... Besides its traditional emphasis on prayer, mission, evangelism and theology the focus today is increasingly on burning global issues such as the fight against poverty and HIV/AIDS." Lessons from the Dalai Lama: [From christianity.ca] The e-mail that stopped me in my tracks last week requested my help in making vegetarian chili to feed 300 Buddhists monks for a picnic at Toronto's lakeside. ...it was my church missions committee asking those whom I suspect were noted for being... vegetarians—or curious about the wave of ancient wisdom sweeping the country....

"After the Prime Minister met with the Dalai Lama, he told the House of Commons, 'I absolutely believe that human rights are a spiritual issue.' Had Mr. Martin said that in the context of Christianity in Canada, he would be vilified for mixing religion and politics; with Buddhism, it is okay." A Strange Faith -- Are Church-Going Kids Christian? "A strange god indeed.... [George] Barna revealed this stunning fact: 63 percent of church-going, supposedly Christian teens said they believed 'Muslims, Buddhists, Christians, Jews and all other people pray to the same God, even though they use different names for their god....

"Apparently, many church-going teens are not being challenged by the preaching and teaching of the true Gospel. How else can one explain the overwhelming assumption among teens that they are Christian, when they clearly are not?...

"...very few of the nation's youth appear to be Bible-believing Christians.... Barna found that only 4 percent of U.S. teens can be considered evangelicals. More distressingly, that number is actually trending in the wrong direction. ... How could teenagers who go to church so often know so little -- or at least believe so little -- of the historic Christian faith? And whose fault is it?" Historic Conference on Meditation in the West: "...the Dali Lama is making an historic address at a conference in Washington D.C. on the subject of how meditation now has wide acceptance in the West. (Sad to say, this acceptance now extends to Evangelical Christians.) It is coming in under the guise of health care but its tentacles reach into every area of life, religion, education, politics and business." See Templeton: Merging Religion & Science

Spiritual Direction or Seance?   "Her palms open heavenward, Helene sets them on the couch by her thighs and then starts with a prayer. On occasion, she rings a brass bell to separate the clamor from the quiet. Sometimes she lights a candle, as if to remind us that the Holy Spirit is with us, interceding on our behalf with words we don't even know how to find."

"For the next two or three hours, Helene listens intently with me for God's voice. I pay her $30 for this priceless gift." See The Rising World Religion

Prince Charles is fond of Islam, scolds Americans: "He calls Americans much too 'confrontational' regarding Islam. We should build cordial bridges to that religion. After all, it is a religion among religions....

"... he no longer regards himself as the 'defender of the faith' but the 'defender of the faiths.' Therefore, Islam comes under his wing." See Four Faces of Islam

Robert Muller's Totalitarian Utopia: Part 1: "...consider as you read the following excerpts whether these envisioned plans are utopian or totalitarian. Utopian – if it is all about YOUR faith? Totalitarian –

“*Every United Nations World Conference receives the input of inter-religious thinking and recommendations. “*A representative of the World Spirituality Agency is accredited to each official UN meeting, organ, conference, and to every UN specializcy and world program.

“*Each year the World Spirituality Agency submits a report to the United Nations on the state of spirituality and religiosity in the world and on inter-religious cooperation for a better world.

“*It is now accepted world-wide that spirituality means doing good on earth. As former UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold has said, 'Today the way to holiness goes through the world of action.’...

“*Spirituality has become a priority for world philanthropy: a World Spiritual Foundation has been created alongside the World Spirituality Agency. Each year world Spiritual Prizes are awarded for outstanding spiritual achievements." See Warren's P.E.A.C.E. Plan and UN Goals - Part 3 - Whom do we serve?

Popular neoevangelical terms -- What do they really mean? "Are neo-evangelical leaders using these terms in the same way that the pagans use them?

“VISUALIZATION. A loose term for numerous practices in which mental pictures are called up and used for different purposes: to contact someone telepathically, heal from a distance, achieve a desired state (happiness, peace, courage).... ...

“VISION QUEST. A term made popular in the current revival of shamanism, referring to a long-established practice common to the American Indians, Siberian shamans, and Australian Aborigines, in which the seeker of self-knowledge and spiritual power..." See NEW AGE terms in the church

From Robert Schuller's book, My Journey: "I met once more with the Grand Mufti (a Muslim), truly one of the great Christ-honoring leaders of faith. ... I'm dreaming a bold impossible dream: that positive-thinking believers in God will rise above the illusions that our sectarian religions have imposed on the world, and that leaders of the major faiths will rise above doctrinal idiosyncrasies, choosing not to focus on disagreements, but rather to transcend divisive dogmas to work together to bring peace and prosperity and hope to the world...." Religion Becomes Important For World Economy: "Religion is rapidly becoming a most important issue for international commerce and industry. Religion affects both the internal relationships of employees and the integration of different cultures in international corporations.

" ...the Confederation of German Employer’s Association in Berlin points out that many joint ventures have failed not least because of cultural and religious incompatibilities. Insight into religious backgrounds is therefore essential at the management level..." See Warren's P.E.A.C.E. Plan & UN Goals - Part 1

Global Religion for Global Governance: "There are three interlocking elements that are key to any society: Politics, economics and religion.... [ See The Emerging Global Church ]

"...In spite of the fact that America's heritage is deeply rooted in simple concepts like the Ten Commandments, these are now persona non grata. To the global elite however, there apparently is no 'separation of church and state'... as long as it is their religion and their state: Neither of these welcome traditional evangelical Christianity.

"The first example of religion in globalism is the Aspen Institute, formerly called the Aspen Institute for Humanistic Studies....

"URI [United Religions ] was founded in 1993 ... as an Interfaith organization that seeks to bind religions of the world into one common organization.... In 2002, New Age author Neale Donald Walsch said that the URI is 'more global in scope, and more universal in reach' than other interfaith organizations.'" Bohemian Grove Employee Blows the Whistle on Inside Events: "Described as the 'Greatest Men's Party on Earth,' the members of the Bohemian Club and international elites have been gathering in their redwoods for over 100 years. Regular visitors include the Bushes, Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell, Newt Gingrich, whilst past luminaries have included Former Presidents Regan and Nixon, together BEFORE they had even taken office.... [P]ast luminaries have included Former Presidents Regan and Nixon, together BEFORE they had even taken office....

"The most famous ritual that occurs at the Grove every year is the Symbolic Pagan Worship of Molech – the ‘god’ of Child Sacrifice. ... [P]olitical figureheads from around the world attend this sacrifice ceremony. German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt wrote of his fondness for the Grove ceremonies in his Biography 'Men and Power'.... Former President Richard Nixon is on record questioning the activities at the Grove, making reference to the debase, decadent attitude as well as the homosexual activity there." That Which Holds Things as They Change: "As the music soared and pounded to a rock or reggae or rap beat, hundreds of teenagers of all colors, ethnicities, abilities, sexual orientations, family situations, streamed down the aisles of the immense arena to dance in endless conga lines on the main floor, praising God.... The theology of the worship services at NYE was progressive and inclusive, but the style was evangelical ... As people danced... kids who’d come from Hawaii and Maine and all points in between connected with each other and with the Holy Spirit....

"Here are some of the lyrics .... 'Come and share our sacred space. ALL: Ashe. [Spirit] Ashe. All are welcome in this place.....We are here to welcome you.... Gay and lesbian, we love you. ... In God’s eyes we’re all the same. ALL: Ashe. Ashe." See The Rising World Religion

A new $50,000 script contest: "First-time screenwriters with a compelling religious message will have a chance to break into the big time and get their scripts noticed by top Hollywood executives in the First Bi-Annual John Templeton Foundation Kairos Prize for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays....  Dr. Ted Baehr, as Founder and Executive Producer of MOVIEGUIDE®... works to provide a bridge between the entertainment industry and the traditional family audience. ... 'We are so grateful to Sir John, and now Dr. Jack Templeton, for their recognition of the impact of entertainment on faith and spirituality,' Dr. Baehr said."

Bible School To Use Harry Potter Theme: "...the theme is 'Wizards and Wonders: The Journey with Harry Potter,' as preschoolers take flying lessons on miniature broomsticks at a makeshift Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft. .... A Buddhist, a Christian, a Jew, and a Muslim share how they blend yoga with their religious beliefs: "Cohen-Keiner ... strayed far enough from her family's religion to explore Christian mysticism among other sacred traditions. Today both Judaism and yoga play a much more prominent role in her life. In July, 2000, she was ordained as a rabbi in the Jewish Renewal Movement, a sort of grassroots Judaism with a coterie of socially progressive and spiritually inquisitive leaders ... 'The mythic stories of the Hindu tradition probably do look like idol worship to traditional Jewish eyes,' she says, 'but here's how I understand it: I believe that God is oneness. ....

"...yoga is the stilling of fluctuations in consciousness to concentrate on the object of concentration [according to John Monastra] For a religious person, that's God.' .... In the Sufi tradition that Monastra follows, one sits for a while after praying, feeling oneself in the sacred presence and invoking the name of God. Monastra does this semi-yogically by substituting 'Allah' for a Sanskrit mantra and doing yogic breathing....

"Jacobs teaches meditation Judeo-Christian-style and minimizes the more overtly Hindu aspects of yoga in his classes—not to accommodate his Catholicism so much as to accent his universalism. 'I honor the Hindu path, the Buddhist path, the Sufi path,' he states with Midwestern matter-of-factness." See The Rising World Religion

"All Truth Is God’s Truth"? "Under this umbrella statement, they embrace the speculative notions of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Alfred Adler, Abraham Maslow, Albert Ellis, Carl Rogers, and a host of other psychological theorists, depending upon their own individual biases. Theologians have made this expansion of God’s truth quite respectable under such terms as 'natural theology' and 'general revelation,' and Christian psychologists enthusiastically embrace them.... The very basic issue, however, is whether such humanly discovered truths can be properly categorized as 'revelation,' either general or specific." See Who is the Dream Giver?

Yes to Yoga (Christianity Today): "...My body becomes a mountain. An eagle. A warrior. A pigeon. A downward dog. A cobra.... Oh, and I'm an evangelical—mostly, a proud one. Proud of Christ, of Mary Magdalene, of G.K. Chesterton, of the way the Bible cuts through all cultures and all times and all hearts, and of smart evangelicals like historian Mark Noll at Wheaton College who have pried open the collective evangelical mind. ...

"To dispel the stereotype at hand, let me witness that yoga has never had any negative influence on me, and it doesn't trigger any harmful religious impulses....

"...my enthusiasm for yoga doesn't mean I'm in denial about its Hindu roots. The magazine Hinduism Today editorialized that 'the knowing separation of hatha yoga from Hinduism is deceptive.' I know that hard-core yogis believe that yoga is more than exercise or a relaxation technique. To them, it's a religious ritual. But the Hindu gods don't make it onto my mat...." Don't be so sure. Islam and Christianity Reach the Same God During Mystical Experiences: "According to Tony Campolo, in his book Speaking My Mind, he has several suggestions for Christians - the bottom line is he believes we need to 'redefine ourselves,'... 'recast our opinions,' and 'entertain the possibility that we might be in error' about particular issues. He says we need to stop being so stubborn.... What are those issues he speaks of? They are everything from mysticism to homosexuality and an array of other changes we need to make in our attitudes, behaviors and ideas.

"....he believes, 'mysticism provides some hope for common ground between Christianity and Islam.' He asks and then later answers the question, 'Could they (Islamic Sufis) have encountered the same God we do in our Christian mysticism?' His answer - of course!" See Re-Inventing the Church, Part 1

PBS: Multifaith Calendar: "It is not possible to find peace in the soul without serenity and harmony between the people." -- The Dalai Lama

The bottom of this PBS page shows the symbols of the world's main religions. The first is "'Aboriginal Spirituality":

"Aboriginal peoples see themselves in continuity with the natural world, and the timings of their celebrations reflect their harmony with a wider spectrum of rhythms in nature than just the cycles of the sun and moon.... Every season is a time of thanksgiving to the Creator, the Supreme Spirit and Provider. Each season is sacred - a part of the continuing circle of creation in which all beings share."

The "Christian" symbol used here is almost the same as the Aboriginal: the quartered circle -- a common version of the Celtic cross. See Establishing a Global Spirituality

A Bridge over other Waters: "Few have done as much to promote a sense of unity among the world's religions than John Marks Templeton....

"The Council for a Parliament of World Religions promotes inter-religious dialogue and plans for the world's 'spiritual future by having government institutionalize a global ethic.' Sir John Templeton serves on the Parliament of World Religions board of trustees. ...

"Christianity Today introduced Templeton’s book, Discovering The Laws of Life, to a Christian audience in 1994. They assigned the entire back cover of its April 24, 1994 issue with an ad promoting it.... The ad contained the endorsements of Norman Vincent Peale (who also wrote the foreword), Robert Schuller, Billy Graham... and J. Peter Grace (head of the Knights of Malta). Templeton's beliefs are clearly expressed in his numerous writings: He is an evolutionist, pantheist, universalist, and has occultic views. His writings display a rejection of the God of the Bible, Christ as the only way to God. He claims that heaven and hell are states of mind we create here on earth that truth is relative, and that Christianity is no longer relevant today as it was in Christ’s day." Bloody Utopian Dreams, Part I: Hammer and Sickle: "From the mystical doctrines of the Egyptian mystery religions to the hammer and sickle of the Soviet Union, from Plato's Republic and council of wise men to the dreams and aspirations of a globally enhanced United Nations - mankind has sought to create the 'perfect utopian' society shaped in Man's image.

Moonies knee-deep in faith-based funding: "President Bush has some new troops in his crusade to promote 'healthy marriage' and teen celibacy with federal funds -- followers of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the controversial Korean evangelist and self-proclaimed new world messiah. At least four longtime operatives of Moon's Unification Church are on the federal payroll or getting government grants in the administration's Healthy Marriage Initiative and other 'faith-based' programs.... According to Unification Church teachings, the children born from these marriages are 'blessed children,' who, unlike the rest of humanity, are born without original sin....

"Another longtime political operative in Moon front groups, David Caprara, now directs the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives for the federal government's Corporation for National and Community Service. That agency... has emerged as a key player in Bush's faith-based initiative, handing out $61 million to faith-based organizations in fiscal year 2003." See Faith-Based Compromise

repeat Christian Churches Should Stop Using the Cross, [Moon] Group Says: "An interfaith group founded by Unification Church leader Sun Myung Moon is spearheading an effort to have Christian ministers remove crosses from their churches, calling them a symbol of oppression and perceived superiority....

"The American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC), an organization that began as a project of Moon's Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), believes the key to 'true and lasting peace in the Middle East' is reconciliation between members of the world's three largest religions....

"'We have realized that, as expressions of faith, there are certain symbols that have stood in the way,' Stallings [chairman of the executive committee of the ACLC] said. 'The cross has served as a barrier in bringing about a true spirit of reconciliation between Jews and also between Muslims and Christians, and thus, we have sought to remove the cross from our Christian churches across America as a sign of our willingness to remove any barrier that stands in the way of us coming together as people of faith.'"

The cross was intended to serve as barrier. God tells us to have no other gods before Him, for He alone gave His life for His people and opened the door to His eternity. If we love others, we will reach across that barrier through the cross -- not hide or ignore it. See The Cross of Christ

Purpose, PEACE And New Spirituality: "Observe all the words she [Marianne Williamson] uses that borrow from the Christian lexicon. Some of the examples are Atonement, Praying, Guilt, Innocence, Separation, Spiritual Death, Rebirth....

"As the lines become blurred, we need to be able to discern Christian from New Age, truth from error. We need to know not only the language of Christianity, but also the underlying concepts and definitions, that we will be able to distinguish between ever-small differentiations." Is Your Church Teaching Pagan Earth Worship in Sunday School? "Many churches are now using a Sunday School curriculum created by an organization in Colorado called 'Group.' ... Matter of faith: "... a new book, The Spiritual Revolution, predicts that (in Britain at least) Christianity will be eclipsed by spirituality – basically anything other than traditional organised churches – within 30 years. It says people no longer want to be preached at, or made to feel guilty, they find church no longer fulfills their needs and they no longer believe in Heaven, but they still want to embark on self improvement. They want to be spiritual, but they want to do it their way....

"They will dabble in anything that offers a new way of looking at the world and understanding themselves, their higher selves and the people around them: meditation, tarot, other philosophies like buddhism or kabala, witchcraft, feng shui, astrology, yoga, self-help gurus, even ideas taken from popular culture. Or they may follow a personal creed that draws on any assortment of these. 'People are consumers, they want to pick and choose what feels right rather than being imposed with a set choice."

"...if the churches should be worried about anything, it should be the growing popularity of 'Western' Buddhism, a refined form of Theravada buddhism." See Signs of the times and Our Father in Heaven?

Changing society: "One of the trademarks of this movement is a vague and duplicitous language. Its participants regularly employ terms that mean one thing to biblically literate Christians and often something else to 'seekers,' secular society and the enemies of Christ. [See NEW AGE terms in the church]

"It is quite common for church growth advocates with psychology backgrounds to take scriptural words and apply them to unscriptural concepts while taking secular terms, common to humanists and occultists and apply them to seemingly biblical objectives.....

"...an excerpt from... Christianity Today article.... 'There are two kinds of conversions: a spiritual conversion, which every person must have—and a small groups conversion—which every pastor or church leader must have: A Christian conversion and Community conversion. Small groups are not just another program in a suite of church offerings. Small groups are the church—it's the primary way people get transformed—life on life.'” Not true! Britons' belief in God vanishing as religion is replaced by apathy: "...the national mood appears to be one of benign indifference. Most people give the impression of regarding religion almost as a consumer good, one to be consumed by those who happen to have a taste for it. ... Marriage is no longer seen as a sacrament and even church weddings no longer find favour.

What it will take to turn education around: "While state departments of education expound loud and long about the rise in 'test' scores, the test being used to determine those 'rising scores' isn’t a test at all but an assessment; a subjective measure of whether the child is demonstrating mastery of equally subjective state exit outcomes....

"...teachers are now being assessed on whether their students are demonstrating the wanted behaviors (team players, critical thinking, communications, making decisions, adapting to change and understanding whole systems) as determined by the state constructed and federally required assessment vehicle.

Strengthening EFA ( Education for All) Partnerships: "It is time for various other UN Agencies to learn from this culture of building and nurturing partnership with civil society. Our Global Action Week, a week-long campaign organized by the GCE across 100 countries in the month of April every year, is a concrete example of the vibrant partnership of civil society, teachers, children, Government, and UNESCO.
