'Mediterranean Union' is born: "An intriguing new geopolitical entity was born over the weekend that could in ways small and large dramatically change the course of Europe and the Middle East in the years ahead. At a series of ceremonies in Paris -- in a palace overlooking the River Seine -- leaders from 43 countries comprising 756 million people met officially to form the 'Mediterranean Union,' to fight terrorism, end WMD proliferation, enhance regional security, and promote free trade, economic development, and tourism."

Political elites continue to push unification against their constituents¹ wishes: "Only the Irish had the guts... to hold a referendum [and reject the EU Constitution).... What could explain the Irish obduracy? Several explanations came forth, among them Irish xenophobia and intellectual backwardness.... [?] One Currency for South American Union: "...the South American countries are planning for a common currency as part of the integration of the individual countries into the Union of South American Nations. This integration is patterned after the formation of the European Union, and parallels the plan for the North American Union..... Another unfolding feature of the South American Union similar to that of the North American Union is its dependence on newly created infrastructure. The South American alliance will promote the cross-nation construction of railroads, highways, bridges and transmission lines that will connect the entire region.... The union plan also calls for a regional defense council, apparently the beginning of the imposition of a regional government. This council would resolve regional conflicts, promote military cooperation....

      "The plan to establish a new common currency for the Union of South American Nations is the latest development in the initiation of common currencies representative of multi-country trading blocks. American countries to provide solutions for food crisis: "Twelve South American nations -- Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and Suriname -- have come together to form Unasur, an alliance designed to strengthen political dialogue between member states and aid regional integration, especially in the areas of economy, finance, social development and culture." The review below summarizes the message in "Terror and Consent" -- a book highly praised by Tony Blair, Henry Kissinger and other globalist leaders. The author, Philip Bobbitt, bases his argument on this statement: "During the era of twentieth century industrial nation states... 80 percent of the dead and wounded in warfare were civilians."

       He fails to remind readers that most of the killing was caused by Nazi or Communist  cruelty and aggression. Instead he uses that horrendous "crisis" to justify the rejection of the constitutional nation-state! Wouldn't it be better to resist Communism (it didn't die), Communitarianism and terrorism -- and to preserve our constitutional freedoms? See Totalitarianism

 

Global Management.  'Terror and Consent': (Book review) "For Philip Bobbitt, a distinguished lecturer and senior fellow at the University of Texas and a law professor at Columbia University, this [the sentence above] is more than a gee-whiz factoid. It's the basis upon which he advances an ambitious argument for fighting the wars that are bound to plague the 21st century. ... What does it say about the nation state...? Might it be time for something new?

      "The best way to protect citizens of modern democracies, [Bobbitt] claims, is to fundamentally rethink the nation state as the guarantor of the freedoms that terrorists intend to obliterate. ... If 'we want to defeat state-shattering terror in the twenty-first century,' Bobbitt writes, we will have to 'transform the emerging constitutional order of the twenty-first century State.' Specifically, we must stop thinking like a nation state and start thinking like the 'market state' that we are inevitably becoming. ... What's needed is a constitutional order that takes its structural cues from multinational corporations and nongovernmental organizations, relying 'less on law and regulation and more on market incentives' to expand people's options. Such a market state keeps its finger on the pulse of consumer demand, advocates trade liberalization, is prone to the privatization of public works and 'will outsource many functions.' ...

      "...if we strengthen our alliances with other states, networks of shared intelligence could do an impressive job of it. Of course, this would require a more invasive process of information gathering within and across national borders. In order to reduce the threat to civil liberties this would entail, Bobbitt highlights "our commitment to globalize the systems of human rights and government by consent.'... President Bush Participates in Joint Press Availability with President Calderon of Mexico and Prime Minister Harper of Canada: BUSH: "...we spent time talking about the Colombia free trade agreement. Canada is negotiating a Colombia free trade agreement; Mexico has a free trade agreement with Colombia.... It makes no sense to me to say that Colombia goods can come into our country duty-free, yet our goods can't go into Colombia duty-free.... We're talking about food and product safety standards to make them compatible in a way that guarantees safety for our consumers.... Obviously, we talked about global warming and the need to make sure that major economies are all party to an agreement."

     CALDERÓN: "...Six, we also talked a lot about border projects. Our three countries want to have safe borders and we want to have efficient borders, borders that will improve the competitiveness of our various businesses and for the entire region. We talked about how to make the flow along the borders even better, how to improve trade there."

 

José Can You See? Bush’s Trojan Taco: "The second reason Bush has kept this major summit [Canada, Mexio & the US] a virtual secret is its real agenda. More important, the agenda-makers, the guys who called the meeting, must remain as far out of camera range as possible: The North American Competitiveness Council. Never heard of The Council? Well, maybe you’ve heard of the counselors: the chief executives of Wal-Mart, Chevron Oil, Lockheed-Martin and 27 other multinational masters of the corporate universe. And why did the landlords of our continent order our presidents to a three-nation pajama party? Their term is 'harmonization.'...

Makeover urged for 'North American Union' effort: "On the verge of next week's North American summit in New Orleans, a Canadian think tank has suggested renaming the 'North American Union' to renew progress toward continental integration in the face of mounting criticism...."

Absolut apologizes for Mexican vodka ad: "The Absolut vodka company apologized Saturday for an ad campaign depicting the southwestern U.S. as part of Mexico amid angry calls for a boycott by U.S. consumers. The campaign... showed a 1830s-era map when Mexico included California, Texas and other southwestern states."

The European Union: A British View: "No one told us that today the EU would be making 80% of our laws.... The EU called 9-11 'a beneficial disaster' because it enabled them to trot out legislation that further curtails our freedoms. ... This has been very costly for Britain. We send the EU $55 million a day.... Part of the immense cost of the EU is due to its corruption....

     "Britain is used to LOW regulation and HIGH compliance. In contrast, Europeans have a long history of making thousands of laws. They are used to HIGH regulation and LOW compliance....

     "Under EU law the accused are assumed to be guilty, and have to prove their innocence. There is no protection against double jeopardy. There is no trial by jury. The same state employee investigates and charges you and tries you. ....

North American Army created without OK by Congress: "In a ceremony that received virtually no attention in the American media, the United States and Canada signed a military agreement Feb. 14 allowing the armed forces from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a domestic civil emergency, even one that does not involve a cross-border crisis....The agreement.... was not submitted to Congress for approval, nor did Congress pass any law or treaty specifically authorizing this military agreement to combine the operations of the armed forces of the United States and Canada in the event of a wide range of domestic civil disturbances ranging from violent storms, to health epidemics, to civil riots or terrorist attacks."  How Brussels [European Union's main headquarters] regulates our daily lives: "It seems only a matter of time before Brussels' compulsion to control everything is subjected to a nonsense standard.... Current regulations already run the gamut from protections against fine dust and noise to soil conservation to protections for workers against solar radiation....

    "...precise noise readings must be taken on every street, whether in downtown areas, in industrial zones, along railway lines or in expensive and leafy residential neighborhoods.... All are furious about the new requirement.

Are We All Nazis Now? "On January 27, 2005, the European Parliament voted a resolution 'on remembrance of the Holocaust, anti-semitism and racism.' Near the end of the resolution, the EP states... that it: '... Welcomes the declared intention of the Luxembourg Presidency to restart the stalled discussions on the proposal for a Council Framework Decision on combating Racism and Xenophobia, and urges the Council to reach agreement on a ban on incitement to racial and religious hatred throughout the EU.... Racism and xenophobia will mean belief in race colour, descent, religion or belief, national or ethnic origin as a factor determining aversion to individuals."

      This resolution may sound innocuous, but since interpretation is open-ended and designed to avoid offense, any Christian statement equating homosexuality, promiscuity or abortion with sin would be censored. Plans for Economic Integration: "Now that the game plan is laid out, we can connect the dots: NAFTA, the admission of Mexican trucks onto our highways, the contract to build the TransTexas Corridor and the plans to extend it into a NAFTA Super Highway, making Kansas City an international "port," the "totalization" of illegal aliens into our Social Security system, and the recently defeated Senate amnesty bill. Sanctuary Cities: What are they?  "Generally, sanctuary policies instruct city employees not to notify the federal government of the presence of illegal aliens living in their communities. The policies also end the distinction between legal and illegal immigration--so illegal aliens often benefit from city services too....  A formal sanctuary policy is a written policy that may have been passed by a local government body in the form of a resolution, ordinance, or administrative action....An informal sanctuary policy is a policy that does not exist on paper but none-the-less is carried out by government workers (administrative, service, or safety). An informal sanctuary policy is more difficult to document, since no obvious public record exists....

  "One justification of creating sanctuary cities is often under the guise of protecting 'immigrant rights.' But illegal aliens are not immigrants.... Israel Returns Illegal African Migrants to Egypt [Registration required]: "An Israeli human rights organization, the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, issued a statement expressing its 'strong' condemnation of the government’s decision 'to deport African refugees and asylum seekers to Egypt without following the internationally recognized procedures for determining whether they are refugees.'"

Bill halts Trans Texas Corridor for Two Years: "A bill that places a two-year hold on the Trans-Texas Corridor (TTC) took effect on June 11.”

National borders erased for airlines in new plan: "A new plan being discussed among officials from the United States, Mexico and Canada essentially would erase national borders in North America for air carriers, perhaps giving Aeromexico a pass to run a Los Angeles-Toronto route or Air Canada to compete on the New York-Paris connection, according to WND columnist Jerome Corsi." Military To Crackdown On North American Union Protesters [Slow to open]: "The US army is to enforce a huge security perimeter around the upcoming North American Union meeting in Canada this August.... 'It is deplorable that we are being prevented from bringing together a panel of writers, academics and parliamentarians to share their concerns about the Security and Prosperity Partnership with Canadians,' said Brent Patterson, director of organizing with the Council of Canadians. 'Meanwhile, six kilometres away, corporate leaders from the United States, Mexico and Canada will have unimpeded access to our political leaders.'

    "...the Council on Foreign Relations seeded the plan for a 'North American Advisory Council' which eventually became the SPP.... Internal SPP documents released under the FOIA have also shown that a wide range of US administrative law is being re-written in stealth under this program to 'integrate' and 'harmonize' with administrative law in Mexico and Canada, in a similar fashion to moves that have become commonplace within the EU."

Cost of educating illegals is targeted: "Utah spent up to $85.4 million in a single year educating undocumented immigrants, and now lawmakers want the feds to pay up. ... Public schools are required by a U.S. Supreme Court ruling to educate all children and are even barred from asking a student's immigration status. ... AU Summit Opens With Calls for Africa Government: "The Ninth Africa Union heads of state summit opened in Accra, Ghana, yesterday with renewed calls for African political union. Outgoing AU Commission chairman Alpha Oumar Konare [Mulim] stole the show with a passionate speech pressing the need for an African government.... Speaking without notes, Mr Konare criticised the AU as an ineffective and powerless body, referring to many of the critical problems on the continent, from the Darfur crisis to dictatorship, human rights, corruption and poverty that the African leaders prefer not to confront. In an unprecedented address from the top AU official, Mr Konare made a strong pitch for progress towards a unity, taking the view that the AU would remain a talking shop unless it acquired legislative power that could only come with creation of a United States of Africa....

An American citizen would have to provide a social security number which would reveal their annual income---an illegal immigrant need only claim to be poor and the hospital must take them at their word.
