Taking College Exams for Middle Eastern Students: "Many of the students came from 'Special Interest' countries - countries have a known involvement with terrorism.... More than 220,000 foreign students study each year in American colleges and universities, including about 15,500 from the Middle East. Nothing is being said about the imperative to combat massive levels of immigration fraud.... Obama Justice Department shut down ACORN probe: "'The organization ACORN during the summer of 2008 conducted a registration drive which has produced over 100 rejections due to incomplete forms and individuals who are not citizens.'... ACORN even registered a 7-year-old child to vote by using a forged signature and fake birth certificate claiming she was 27 years old.... 'Given President Obama's close connections to ACORN, including his campaign's hiring of the ACORN's Project Vote organization, it seems rather obvious why Attorney General Holder has failed to seriously investigate these and other alleged ACORN criminal activities.'" Justice Dept. probes voting machine merger as midterm elections loom and questions multiply: "The largest voting machine company in the country bought its biggest competitor six months ago without advance fanfare. Now the Justice Department is investigating..."

Don't Like the Numbers? Change 'Em: "Politicians and scientists who don't like what their data show lately have simply taken to changing the numbers. They believe that their end—socialism, global climate regulation, health-care legislation, repudiating debt commitments, la gloire française—justifies throwing out even minimum standards of accuracy. ...

     "With Venezuela in recession... President Hugo Chávez declared the GDP to be a capitalist plot. He wants a new, socialist-friendly way to measure the economy.... There is historical precedent for a 'socialist GDP.' When President George H.W. Changing the name of California ACORN to ACCE is a slight variation of this game of institutional hide-and-seek that allows ACCE to easily blend into the woodwork and become just another little box on ACORN's organizational chart." Martha Coakley's Convictions: "The Amiraults were a busy, confident trio, grateful in the way of people who have found success after a life of hardship.... Not for nothing was the pre-school deemed by far the best in the area, with a long waiting list for admission.... All of it would end in 1984, with accusations of sexual assault...

     "...prosecutors cast Gerald as chief predator—his gender qualifying him, in their view, as the best choice for the role. It was that role, the man in the family, that would determine his sentence, his treatment, and, to the end, his prosecution-inspired image as a pervert too dangerous to go free....

     " The accusations against the Amiraults might well rank as the most astounding ever to be credited in an American courtroom.... so madly preposterous, and so solemnly put forth by the state. The testimony had been extracted from children, cajoled and led by tireless interrogators.... Gerald was sent to prison for 30 to 40 years, his mother and sister sentenced to eight to 20 years....

      "No less outraged, Superior Court Judge Isaac Borenstein presided over a widely publicized hearings into the case resulting in findings that all the children's testimony was tainted. He said that 'Every trick in the book had been used to get the children to say what the investigators wanted.'... It was clear, when Martha Coakley took over as the new Middlesex County district attorney in 1999, that public opinion was running sharply against the prosecutors in the case....

      "Ms. Coakley asked the Amiraults' attorney, James Sultan, to pledge—in exchange—that he would stop representing Gerald and undertake no further legal action on his behalf.... Mr. Sultan, of course, refused.... Ms. Coakley also worked the press, setting up a special interview so that the now adult accusers could tell reporters, once more, of the tortures they had suffered.... The Amirault family is nonetheless grateful that they are together again.

      "Attorney General Martha Coakley—who had proven so dedicated a representative of the system that had brought the Amirault family to ruin... has recently expressed her view of this episode. Questioned about the Amiraults in the course of her current race for the U.S. Senate, she told reporters of her firm belief that the evidence against the Amiraults was 'formidable'....  What does this say about her candidacy?....

     "If the current attorney general of Massachusetts actually believes, as no serious citizen does, the preposterous charges that caused the Amiraults to be thrown into prison—the butcher knife rape with no blood, the public tree-tying episode, the mutilated squirrel and the rest—that is powerful testimony to the mind and capacities of this aspirant to a Senate seat. It is little short of wonderful to hear now of Ms. Coakley's concern for the rights of terror suspects at Guantanamo—her urgent call for the protection of the right to the presumption of innocence. If the sound of ghostly laughter is heard in Massachusetts these days as this campaign rolls on, with Martha Coakley self-portrayed as the guardian of justice and civil liberties, there is good reason."  See Corruption

Judge Rules Effort to Strip ACORN of Federal Funds Unconstitutional: "ACORN claimed in its lawsuit that Congress' decision to cut off its funding was unconstitutional because it punitively targeted an organization.... Audio From ACORN Claims Jerry Brown Will Whitewash Investigation by Capitol Confidential: "Lagstein is ACORN’s chief organizer in the San Diego area.... Lagstein notes that the Attorney General is a 'political animal.' He states that he has been in communication with Brown’s office and assures the crowd that 'the fault WILL be found with the people that did the video — not ACORN.' If that’s true, then the fix is in and Brown’s investigation is just a scam on the public. But, targeting the filmmakers will also put Brown’s office in an especially difficult position."

'More than 200' of those workers may have had serious criminal records.... Approximately 750 (42 percent) (of those) were terminated or were further reviewed because the Bureau determined their criminal records -- which included crimes such as rape, manslaughter and child abuse -- disqualified them...'  ...Then there's the troubling alliance between the Census Bureau and the aggressively partisan Service Employees International Union -- whose many leading officials and organizing tactics are inextricably intertwined with ... the ACORN community organizing racket."

ACORN May Face Trial for First Time as Nevada Prosecutors Allege 'Widespread' Criminal Policies: "ACORN was using the names of those casino games as a cover to illegally pay workers to sign up voters as part of an illegal quota system. ...authorities have secured guilty pleas from several who admitted to falsifying voter registration forms. ...'We came across policy manuals that outline their [ACORN's] policy of creating a quota system...This, in fact, was something that was widespread and something the organization itself knew about...."

Bertha's Bolsheviks: "Why is ACORN's chief organizer friendly with the Marxist anti-American governments of two South American countries? ....Both Bolivia and Venezuela are now headed by radical, anti-American leftists friendly to Communist Cuba -- and officials of those hostile nations somehow ended up as business associates of Bertha Lewis. ....[Hugo] Chavez calls capitalism 'savagery' and has allowed Hezbollah and the Palestinian Hamas terrorists to open offices in Venezuela's capital, Caracas."

Acorn Who? "Mr. Obama took great pains to act as if he barely knew about Acorn. In fact, his association goes back almost 20 years. In 1991, he took time off from his law firm to run a voter-registration drive for Project Vote, an Acorn partner that was soon fully absorbed under the Acorn umbrella. The drive registered 135,000 voters and was considered a major factor in the upset victory of Democrat Carol Moseley Braun....Mr. Obama's success made him a hot commodity on the community organizing circuit. He became a top trainer at Acorn's Chicago conferences. In 1995, he became Acorn's attorney, participating in a landmark case to force the state of Illinois to implement the federal Motor Voter Law. That law's loose voter registration requirements would later be exploited by Acorn employees in an effort to flood voter rolls with fake names. /In 1996, Mr. Obama filled out a questionnaire listing key supporters for his campaign for the Illinois Senate. He put Acorn first (it was not an alphabetical list).

...in a [2007] speech to Acorn's leaders prior to their political arm's endorsement of his presidential campaign, Mr. Obama was effusive: 'I've been fighting alongside of Acorn on issues you care about my entire career.' Sued for exposing ACORN's suggestions for prostitution, tax fraud: "A defense fund is being launched for Hannah Giles, the 20-year-old student who with filmmaker James O'Keefe ran an undercover sting on the ACORN organization for which President Obama worked, revealing a multitude of recommendations from employees of the community organizers on how to facilitate underage prostitution and avoid taxes." U.S. charges Obama fund-raiser in $290 million fraud: "Hassan Nemazee, a fund-raiser for Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and other Democrats, has been indicted....  Nemazee [was] head of a private equity firm and an Iranian American Political Action Committee board member...."

Obama is governing as a community organizer: "Obama was a community organizer with Project Vote, an affiliate of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN).... The recent effort by the White House to keep track of all of the rumors about the healthcare reform bill must lead all but the most ardent Obama supporters to acknowledge one thing: The White House has implemented the radical tactics the president learned in the streets of Chicago, organizing for ACORN. In a book written in 1986... titled 'Organizing the Movement,' author Gary Delgado a 14-year ACORN organizer, trainer, and recruiter explicitly and unapologetically outlines the guerilla response of ACORN when confronted by opposition. ... He writes: 'Organizing campaigns implement what organizers call the three I's: Identify the enemy, isolate him, and ice him."

Planned revolution? Inside Obama's Acorn: By their fruits ye shall know them: "In the few stories where Obama's role as an Acorn 'leadership trainer' is noted, or his seats on the boards of foundations that may have supported Acorn are discussed.... Acorn, says Stern, grew out of 'one of the New Left's silliest and most destructive groups, the National Welfare Rights Organization.' In the 1960's, NWRO launched a campaign of sit-ins and disruptions at welfare offices. The goal was to remove eligibility restrictions, and thus effectively flood welfare rolls with so many clients that the system would burst.       "Few people have a clear idea of just what a 'community organizer' does. A Los Angeles Times piece on Obama's early Chicago days opens with the touching story of his efforts to build a partnership with Chicago's 'Friends of the Parks,' so that parents in a blighted neighborhood could have an inviting spot for their kids to play.... It's far from the whole story....

      "As Talbot was led away handcuffed, charged with mob action and disorderly conduct, she explicitly justified her actions in storming the meeting. This was the woman who first drew Obama into his alliance with Acorn, and whose staff Obama helped train.... Obama's long service with Acorn led many members to serve as the volunteer shock troops of Obama's early political campaigns....

      "Obama's memberships on those foundation boards, 'allowed him to help direct tens of millions of dollars in grants' to various liberal organizations, including Chicago Acorn, 'whose endorsement Obama sought and won in his State Senate race.'... GOP pressures Obama, IRS to sever Acorn ties: "In their letter to Obama, the leaders cite the Census bureau's decision to cut ties, adding: 'It is evident that ACORN is incapable of using federal funds in a manner that is consistent with the law. Immediate action is necessary to ensure that no additional tax dollars are directed to ACORN."

Senate Votes to Keep Housing Funds from ACORN: "...the Senate yesterday voted overwhelmingly to prohibit Housing and Urban Development grants from going to the group."

ACORN Workers Face Charges of Alleged Voter Registration Fraud in Florida: "Six people were taken into custody Wednesday as arrest warrants were issued for 11 workers hired by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now -- or ACORN -- on charges of voter registration fraud."

After Census Severs Ties, ACORN May Face Scrutiny of Housing Grants: "ACORN Housing Corporation received $1.6 million in federal money to provide housing services to low-income communities in this fiscal year Conservatives have cheered the Census Bureau's decision to sever ties with ACORN because it had lost confidence in the group, but the hidden-camera videos that prompted ACORN to fire four workers this week could raise more questions about the federal funding ACORN receives for housing outreach." FBI trained NJ blogger to incite others: "Hal Turner worked for the FBI from 2002 to 2007 as an 'agent provocateur' and was taught by the agency 'what he could say that wouldn't be crossing the line,' defense attorney Michael Orozco said.... 'His job was basically to publish information which would cause other parties to act in a manner which would lead to their arrest.'... Prosecutors have acknowledged that Turner was an informant who spied on radical right-wing organizations, but the defense has said Turner was not working for the FBI when he allegedly made threats against Connecticut legislators and wrote that three federal judges in Illinois deserved to die. ....In June, Turner urged his readers to 'take up arms' against Connecticut lawmakers and suggested government officials should 'obey the Constitution or die,' because he was angry over legislation." U.S. Technology Being Used Against U.S. Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan Because of Lax Export Controls: "Technology that is legal to buy and sell within the U.S. but is illegal to export because of its potential military applications has been used to build weapons deployed against U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan because of loose export controls, according to a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report issued last week."      "This is the career trajectory of Chas Freeman, the former diplomat whom the Obama administration intends to make chairman of the National Intelligence Council. Freeman was ambassador to Saudi Arabia, the most lucrative diplomatic posting in the world because the ambassadors usually end up in the employ of the Saudis after leaving public service....

     "Before he became ambassador to Saudi Arabia (and then, basically, a Saudi ambassador to the U.S.), Freeman served in China.... The Weekly Standard unearthed an e-mail from Freeman about the Tiananmen Square massacre in which he regretted only that the Chinese hadn't cracked down faster and noted, 'I do not believe it is acceptable for any country to allow the heart of its national capital to be occupied by dissidents intent on disrupting the normal functions of government." Corruption. Ill. governor parlor game: Psychotic or political? "'Wacko' is among the unscientific diagnoses suggested by many after prosecutors this week accused Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich of essentially trying to sell the president-elect's open U.S. Senate seat to the highest bidder....  Assessing the embattled governor's state of mind has become a sort of parlor game as the enormity of the stunning allegations against him sinks in. Everyone seems to be wondering, was it lunacy, or just an extreme form of politics-as-usual?

     "'Blagojevich's defense lawyers might want to consider an insanity defense,' wrote Mark Brown, a Chicago Sun-Times columnist.... Not so fast, Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass said.... 'The pundits who make such diagnoses have never talked to a Chicago machine politician in their lives. Whistle-blowers in China sent to mental hospital: "Local officials in Shandong Province have apparently found a cost-effective way to deal with gadflies, whistle-blowers, and all manner of muckraking citizens who dare to challenge the authorities: dispatch them to the local psychiatric hospital.    

     "...public security officials in the city of Xintai in Shandong Province have been institutionalizing residents who persist in their personal campaigns to expose corruption or the unfair seizure of their property. Some people said they were committed for up to two years, and several of those interviewed said they were forcibly medicated. The article, in The Beijing News, said most inmates were released after they agreed to give up their causes. ... Xintai officials... boasted that hospitalizing troublemakers saved money otherwise spent chasing them to the capital.... AIG Offers First Takaful Homeowners Insurance Product for U.S.: "...a subsidiary of AIG Commercial Insurance, is introducing what it says is a first in the U.S.: a homeowners insurance product that is compliant with key Islamic finance tenets and based on the concept of mutual insurance.... The Takaful home policy is the first installment in Lexington Takaful Solutions, a series of Shari'ah-compliant (Takaful) product offerings in the U.S....Muslim countries only account for 5 percent of the global insurance market although they represent 25 percent of the world's population, according to AIG....
