Hospital withholds food, water from Christian pastor: "It's been more than a week since pastor Joshua Kulendran Mayandy has been given food or water at a Brampton, Canada, hospital where he is being treated for a brain impairment following a heart attack. The medical facility's officials are following a determination that he will get his next sustenance only when he can ask the doctor for it....

     "The disagreement over his condition and capacity triggered in Ontario the involvement of the region's 'Consent and Capacity' board, which by law determines the proper medical treatment for patients unable to make decisions themselves....

     " ...the hospital removed Mayandy's feeding tube, prompting his church supporters to file a complaint and get a court-appointed attorney. The attorney contacted Mayandy's sister, Malika Arumugan, but the 'consent board' determined she did not understand the situation....The board's ultimate decision, after hearing from 'all parties,' ruled that Brampton Hospital could remove Mayandy's feeding tube and other modes of life-support....

Instead, it became a ticking time bomb that condemned 37-year-old Vincent Liew to a painful death from a disease only women are supposed to get - uterine cancer... 'It was a terrible decision,' said James McCarthy, the lawyer for Liew's wife. 'The kidney was covered in tumors.'...

     "It is not clear how an organ from a cancer patient ended up in Liew. Organs are not supposed to be harvested from someone who dies of cancer.... In Alabama, a con artist has been offering 'government health care reform' insurance over the phone in exchange for customers’ bank account numbers....Con artists in several states are seizing on the public’s financial struggles and confusion about the recent health care overhaul."

Doctors Sue to Overturn the Health Care Bill: "The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) became the first medical society to sue to overturn the newly enacted health care bill.... Obamacare' cops: $1 billion to force new tax compliance: "Collecting taxes under the Democrats' newly passed health-care plan will cost the federal government more than $1 billion a year in salaries alone.... The legislation will require the IRS to hire as many as 16,500 additional auditors, agents and other employees to investigate and collect billions in new taxes.... 'We need thousands of new doctors and nurses in America, not thousands more IRS agents,' Brady insists."

Health Care Law to Address 'Mal-Distribution of Income': "After the Senate passed a 'fix-it' bill Thursday to make changes to the new health care law, Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., chairman of the influential Finance Committee, said the overhaul was an 'income shift' to help the poor. '...the last couple three years, the mal-distribution of income in American is gone up way too much, the wealthy are getting way, way too wealthy and the middle income class is left behind,' he said. What the Pelosi Health-Care Bill Really Says: "What the government will require you to do: • Sec. 202... of the bill requires you to enroll in a 'qualified plan.'...

• Sec. 224... provides that 18 months after the bill becomes law, the Secretary of Health and Human Services will decide what a 'qualified plan' covers and how much you'll be legally required to pay for it. That's like a banker telling you to sign the loan agreement now, then filling in the interest rate and repayment terms 18 months later....

• Sec. 303... makes it clear that, although the 'qualified plan' is not yet designed, it will be of the 'one size fits all' variety....

• Sec. 59b... says that when you file your taxes, you must include proof that you are in a qualified plan. If not, you will be fined thousands of dollars. Illegal immigrants are exempt from this requirement.

• Sec. 412...says that employers must provide a 'qualified plan' for their employees and pay 72.5% of the cost..."

111 New Bureacracies in Pelosi's Healthcare Bill: "Her bill is 1,990 pages long, contains 400,000 words, and comes in at $2.24 Million per word. If this were not enough, there are 111 newly-created federal bureaucracies that would have to be formed to take care of the massive requirements of Pelosi's bill. When the healthcare bills began to surface in the summer, we were amazed when 53 new healthcare agencies were proposed. Now the list has swelled in typical Beltway-thinking to 111 new federal healthcare agencies."

Taxpayers swarm Capitol to protest Obamacare: "A crowd of at least 10,000 descended on the Capitol today to protest the trillion-dollar health-care bill and storm the halls of congressional office buildings. With less than a week's notice to prepare for the event, the throng steadily grew as buses unloaded for an 'Emergency House Call on Congress' to stop the House from passing the bill."

The ‘Costs’ of Medical Care: [By Thomas Sowell] "We are incessantly being told that the cost of medical care is 'too high.... But nothing that is being proposed by the government is likely to lower those costs.... There is a fundamental difference between reducing costs and simply shifting costs around....
