Personal Notes & Explanations

Home

November, 2007:  More people are telling us that they cannot reach us by email. Much of it returns to them. We don't know what to do at this point. However, much mail is reaching us also. So please try. It's all in God's hands! :)

August 23, 2007: Someone is using our website email address to distribute pornographic ads.  Please pray with us that God stop this corrupt plan -- and that He use this email fraud to change the hearts of anyone who is consequently led to our website.

April 4, 2007:  We had to delete the program that enabled you to automatically send the link to an article to your friends. We discovered that spammers were using the same program to send out junk mail in our "name." But please continue to share the information. I'm glad copying and pasting "addresses" into a personal email works just as well.

January 6, 2007:  Apparently, some of our mail is not reaching us. We are not sure where the blockage is. We so appreciate all your letters, insights, and questions. Our goal is to answer every letter we receive, and with God's help, I trust we will -- in His perfect time. If you don't hear back from us, perhaps we didn't get your letter  -- or we might have an assignment that keeps us so busy that we cannot answer for a while.

January 3, 2007:  We continue to receive email questions concerning messages posted on a particular  website suggesting that we are associated with the Council for National Policy (CNP). The most recent message lists us among participants in "Strategic Partnerships & Interlocking Directorates of Organizations in the Global Ecumenical Movement." Nothing could be further from the truth (as evidenced by the articles I have written on this topic)!

Here is my answer once again:

"No, neither Andy nor I have ever had anything to do with the CNP. We have never attended any of their meetings or conferences, nor have we ever received any mail or publication from their organization. We have never supported or promoted it, and we are obviously not on their mailing list. We don't even know many facts about it.

This rumor (and others) actually began back in the mid-nineties, soon after I received an audio tape with some subjective warnings about the CNP. The envelope had no return address. It included no documentation. Since we don't write articles about a problem unless we can document and validate the information, we ignored it. Apparently, our silence led the sender to assume we supported the CNP.

I have apparently spoken at one or more conferences where -- unknown to me at the time -- there were CNP members. (Since I don't have a membership list, I wouldn't have known who is a member without being told.) Apparently these accusations are based, not merely on "guilt by association" but on "guilt" by proximity. However, that's a problem that has never concerned me. I can only trust that God would use me wherever He sends me -- whether to Christians or unbelievers.

I have refrained from identifying my "accuser" until now for two reasons: (1) Since these questions keep coming -- and since this accusation was publicized on Kelly McGinley's regional radio program -- this has become a public issue. (I tried to to call Kelly and left several phone messages that were not returned.) I sought a friendly discussion with her that would help clarify the confusion and end any division between members of God's precious family -- especially since public misinformation causes confusion both in the Church and among those who watch it.

      (2) Though slander or a "false witness" has always been a normal part of walking with Jesus, it dishonors our Lord and misleads His people.

Of course, this particular issue fades in comparison to far more damaging slander -- some of which I have faced in the past. But God has been training me to receive it with joy, because the privilege of sharing a small part of His suffering far exceeds any pain. (Psalm 27:12; Matthew 5:11, Luke 6:26 Mark 14:56; Proverbs 17:4) In fact, it makes the presence of Jesus all the more sweet -- and God's promises all the more precious!

November 6, 2006:  This last week I had almost no time to check or answer mail. Most of the time has been spent with my very sick mother in the hospital -- God gave us many precious hours together with Him, though she could barely give any verbal response. I read her favorite psalms to her and sang the hymns she loved, and she would smile and sometimes move her lips with the words. I was holding her when she died and went to be with Jesus last night.

October 2006: See May 3, 2004 below. We continue to get questions about this piece of slander.

February 19, 2006: The email problem continues. Some of your letters are not reaching us. The last two days two people have reported that our responses to their email didn't reach them. We don't know why this is happening.

August 9: Links change, as most of you know. We have thousands of links on our website, so it's impossible to check and make sure each still leads to the original outside source material. One of our concerns became reality this week, when someone alerted us to a link that now leads to a crude, unmentionable site. Apparently, new owners (using the original url) had replaced a good page with an offensive page. In this case, the url still contained the title of a respected website. We need your help. Please alert us to any time you find a link that should be deleted.

July 5: We are back from visiting various missions in Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria. Thank you for your prayers. We saw God's work in amazing ways! We hope to post some of our pictures and observations soon, but first we need to help my mother move into a new "assisted living" home.

May 3, 2004: A few days ago I received an email with a question we have answered many times: "I was wondering, are you, or have you ever been involved in the Council for National Policy?" (The answer is now near the top of this page)

April 18, 2004: Our   "Email this page" program has not worked since we changed to a larger server. We hope it will be fixed soon.  Email

April 11, 2004: Our new computer is working well. Thank You, Lord!

March 27, 2004: Our computer has crashed twice this last week, and only by God's grace were we finally able to reboot it yesterday. We have ordered a new computer which should be in place in about ten days. We may not be able to continue the daily updates that long. This old computer has rejected our backup system, so we haven't been able to back up all our files this last week. Please pray that God enable us to save what is needed for future work.

November, 2003: Please be patient with us as we try to keep up with our email and the "Your Comments" page. We try to read everything, but often the most important letters are left behind -- those that require additional research, time and prayer. Please forgive us if we have failed to answer your letter. We are truly sorry. Please send us another note as a reminder, and -- by God's grace -- we hope to do better.

September, 2003: We so appreciate all your letters, insights, and questions. Our goal is to answer every letter we receive, and with God's help, I trust we will -- in His perfect time.
