It isn't clear that Fertility Institutes can yet deliver on its claims of trait selection. But the growth of PGD, unfettered by any state or federal regulations in the U.S., has accelerated genetic knowledge swiftly enough that pre-selecting cosmetic traits in a baby is no longer the stuff of science fiction."

Hubbard Glacier, Alaska: Growing and Advancing in Spite of Global Climate Change: "Hubbard Glacier, the largest calving glacier on the North American Continent (25 percent larger than Rhode Island), advanced across the entrance to 35-mile-long Russell Fiord (fig.1) during June 2002, temporarily turning it into a lake. Hubbard Glacier has been advancing for more than 100 years and has twice closed the entrance to Russell Fiord during the last 16 years by squeezing and pushing submarine glacial sediments across the mouth of the fiord ....Hubbard Glacier retreated about 38 miles between 1130 A.D. and late in the 19th century."

Science. The Sunspot Cycle: "Early records of sunspots indicate that the Sun went through a period of inactivity in the late 17th century. Very few sunspots were seen on the Sun from about 1645 to 1715... This period of solar inactivity also corresponds to a climatic period called the 'Little Ice Age' when rivers that are normally ice-free froze and snow fields remained year-round at lower altitudes.... Fred Singer]: "The U.S. Supreme Court is currently addressing a question of crucial importance to the U.S. economy: Is carbon dioxide, from fossil-fuel burning for energy production a 'pollutant' that requires regulation?... Absence of good science is evident.... To buttress his claim that anthropogenic [caused by human activities] global warming would injure Massachusetts, its assistant attorney general, James Milkey, invoked sea-level rise and loss of coastal lands, relying on a previous affidavit but suggesting the court not inquire into its merits. ...

Inconvenient truth about global warming: "A panel of eminent scientists testified yesterday at a congressional hearing on global warming.... The worthies confided that Earth hasn't been this hot in 400 years, and maybe longer.... If the Earth was this hot 400 years ago, or even 4,000 years ago, then the recent warming could not have been caused by the madness of man's machines, the flatulence of cows, or even hot air from professors hot to get their names in the paper. Their presentation was studded with 'likely,' 'maybe,' 'could be,' and 'very close to being right'....

Volcanic eruptions may trigger El Nino ... atmospheric cooling ..Pacific Ocean warming: "When a volcano erupts in the tropics, its aerosol emissions spread into the stratosphere across the Northern and Southern hemispheres, reflecting some of the sun’s heat back toward space and thereby cooling the Earth’s atmosphere. This cooling alters the interaction between the oceans and atmosphere, possibly encouraging a warming response in the Pacific Ocean..." See the next two links:
False & politicized science. The end of the world -- according to Gore: "Less than 10 years.'' That, Gore warns, is all the time that 'leading scientists' say we may have 'before we cross a point of no return' -- unless we make a 'really good start toward dramatic changes' to combat global warming."
Two studies lessen concerns of Antarctic warming: "'Higher average temperatures result in the melting of glaciers, in ice being discharged into the oceans from the ice caps of Antarctica.' So stated Al Gore in his well-known book, Earth in the Balance.... Now comes two new studies offering a brighter take on this state of affairs. The first comes from the journal Science which notes that new measurements taken in the West Antarctic show the ice sheet is actually thickening, not melting....
"Antarctica's harsh desert valleys – long considered a bellwether for global climate change – have grown noticeably cooler since 1986.... No doubt these Antarctic findings are continuing to chill concerns about catastrophic man-made global warming."
Melting the facts about Greenland's ice sheet: "Sorry, Dr. Hansen, but the melting edges of the Greenland ice sheet don't prove your point. Melting around the edges is exactly what the Vikings saw on Greenland 1000 years ago when they named the island—for its green coastal meadows. They moved in with their cattle, and thrived for 300 years, during what we now call the Medieval Warming. The Vikings' mistake was thinking that Greenland would stay warm, that the Earth's climate was stable. Greenland was then warmer than today, and the summers were longer. ...
"Then Greenland's climate suddenly got colder. The Little Ice Age had begun. Sea ice moved south, and the Vikings' sailing ships could no longer get through to trade wood for seal furs....
"Our panic-prone scientists seem to have forgotten their own ice cores, drilled deep into the Greenland ice sheet in the 1980s. These ice cores document a natural, sudden-but-moderate 1500-year global warming cycle.... Our moderate warming to date—0.8 degree C—virtually all occurred before 1940, and thus before much industrial development."

Research. Drivers on Cell Phones Kill Thousands, Snarl Traffic: "A new study confirms that the reaction time of cell phone users slows dramatically, increasing the risk of accidents and tying up traffic in general.... Cell phone distraction causes 2,600 deaths and 330,000 injuries in the United States every year... Drivers look but don't see, because they're distracted by the conversation. The scientists also found previously that chatty motorists are less adept than drunken drivers with blood alcohol levels exceeding 0.08. ... The impaired reactions involved seconds, not just fractions of a second, so stopping distances increased by car-lengths."
