My concern over the "information gathering" is growing. Yesterday I received the March 2002 DAWN Report.

In an article entitled "New Tools for a new decade" GPS (Global Positioning System) is highlighted. GPS locators been used in Southern African countries
"to track the presence of churches in the cities, high-density townships and neighborhoods..." "With the right software and a computer, we are then able to show the exact position of the local congregation on a map."

"GPS is also being used to identify strongholds. In the townships of South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique, where GPS is being used, researchers walking the streets also note the location of shebeens (illicit liquor outlets), witchdoctors, gambling houses, brothels and cult churches."

This is using the theology of the Transformation videos.

I lived in Africa for 6 years in the 1970s. Collecting information which is cross-referenced to tribal ethnicity is unwise, and potentially dangerous. In these areas one's tribal identity is not hidden or of no significance. Even in the former Yugoslavia ethnicity is known by those in a community. Ethnicity and ethnic cleansing are linked!!! Ethnic cleansing is happening in places in the world today. Man can be misguided and deceived.

There comes a time when it is prudent to ask hard questions of those who expect "complete trust with the management of this gathered data." It is expected that this system will be allowed, trusted, funded with no questions. Most questions would/might be perceived as "negative" or "critical" which means that a person is expected not to ask.

And I can no longer give unthinking allegiance. I question the theological sloppiness. I question the ethical components of "partnering" with those who sign agreements and covenants knowing that the language is ambiguous, knowing that all do not mean the same thing even when using the same words. All may not think of the ambiguity, but some know. Some go along for the sake of "unity." Some are pressured (nicely, for the sake of the Great Commission...whatever that is with this use of the ambiguous). What kind of "unity" is this?

Thankfully God is sovereign,

Susan
