CATEGORY . Occupy Wall Street and the French Revolution : In this more serious video, I compare the many Occupy movements throughout the world (including the Occupy Wall Street protests) with the French Revolution. After Abbe Sieyes published his landmark pamphlet 'What is the Third Estate?', the Third Estate of pre-revolutionary France gained a greater understanding of the rights that they were being deprived of by the higher estates in society. Until it became violent and oppressive under the Jacobins, the French Revolution saw the Third Estate strive for equal representation and a just, more fair social order. The Occupy movement and the French Revolution, which both consist of a disadvantaged majority in the population rising up against a privileged minority, both have quite similar ideological roots. Even the percentages are similar. Let me know what you think of this brief discussion. See ARTICLE
