A Definition of Occult

Satanism and Occultism are not the same thing.

 The Occult

For the purposes of this course, the occult religious expression contains, but is not limited to:

  • the worship of SELF as the supreme will

  • a belief that Satan is a Christian invention designed for controlling people

  • the conjuring and manipulation of supernatural Influences, agencies, or phenomena for one’s own purposes and gain

Occultism is endorsed in movies, in video games, on TV and in literature as:

  • creatures that have both human and non-human form and characteristics

  • beings with paranormal (psychic) powers who call upon some strange god(s) to fill themselves with special supernatural powers.

  • people who are normal but can change into a different being by calling upon an element in nature (air, fire, earth, water, ethers)

Satanism

  • the worship of Satan as supreme will

  • constitutes 1-2% of all the people who call themselves occultists

The equivalent of calling someone in the occult a satanist is the same thing as calling a born-again Christian a Mormon or a Jehovah’s Witness because all three supposedly fall under the umbrella of Christianity.
