Armor of God

God's warning to the false church: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. ...hold fast and repent. ” Revelation 3:1, 3

God's warning to the true Church: "...because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.... If they persecuted Me they will persecute you... for they do not know the One who sent Me." John 15:19-21

The following excerpts illustrate what is happening in many American churches as well.  To compromising "pastors" and church officials, popularity and "growth" has become more important than God's Word and warnings:

1. Church of England creating 'pagan church' to recruit members

The church is training ministers to create “a pagan church where Christianity [is] very much in the centre” to attract spiritual believers. Ministers are being trained to create new forms of Anglicanism suitable for people of alternative beliefs as part of a Church of England drive to retain congregation numbers.

Reverend Steve Hollinghurst, a researcher and adviser in new religious movements told the BBC: “I would be looking to formulate an exploration of the Christian faith that would be at home in their culture.”...

The Church Mission Society’s webpage advertising their pioneer training scheme states: “Wherever in the world the mission of Jesus goes on, the church needs pioneer mission leaders to break new ground.”

The news comes as spiritual seekers celebrate the summer solstice at Stonehenge today. Pagans and druids will gather to watch the sun rise following the longest day of the year, celebrating at the historic monument.

2. Church of England Envisions Christianity-Centered Pagan Church

by Anugrah Kumar- June 22, 2013

As part of its drive to retain congregation numbers, the Church of England is training its clergy to create a "pagan church" where Christianity will be "very much in the center," a British newspaper reports.

The mother church of the worldwide Anglican Communion is seeking to create new forms of Anglicanism with which people of alternative beliefs should feel comfortable, according to The Telegraph....

What the church is looking at is "almost to create a pagan church where Christianity was very much in the centre," [adds Rev. Steve Hollinghurst].

The job of training the clergy to "break new ground" has been given to the Church Mission Society with the hope that many spiritual people will embrace Christianity.

"Nowadays people, they want to feel something; they want to have some sense of experience," Andrea Campenale, who works with the CMS, was quoted as saying. "We live in reflective England where there's much more of a focus on ourselves. I think that is something we can bring in dialogue with the Christian society."...

"...my job is to find out how Christians can communicate their faith effectively with people who don't have a church background," [Hollinghurst] explains. "I find that most of the people I speak to who aren't Christians see the point! Indeed they often offer their own suggestions as to how Christianity can improve its flagging image."

[...as if churches can simply dialogue across cultures and then conform their churches to an ever-changing consensus!]

"'Woe to the rebellious children,' says the Lord, 'who take counsel, but not of Me,
and who devise plans, but not of My Spirit.'"
Isaiah 30:1

The Church Walking with the World

“Come, give me your hand,” said the merry World,

“And walk with me this way!”

But the faithful Church hid her gentle hands

And solemnly answered “Nay!

I will not give you my hand at all,

And I will not walk with you;

Your way is the way that leads to death;

Your words are all untrue.”

“Nay, walk with me but a little space,”

Said the World with a kindly air;

“The road I walk is a pleasant road,

And the sun shines always there.

Your path is thorny and rough and rude,

But mine is broad and plain;

My way is paved with flowers and dews,

And yours with tears and pain....

Half  shyly the Church approached the World

And gave him her hand of snow;

And the old World grasped it and walked along,

Saying, in accents low:

“Your dress is too simple to please my taste;

I will give you pearls to wear,

Rich velvets and silks for your graceful form,

And diamond to deck your hair.”...
