Service.  Obama's 'army' crashes colleges for health 'reform': "President Obama's 'grassroots army' has descended upon college campuses, knocking on dorm doors to recruit students... pushing health-care 'reform.' Obama for America, Obama's 2008 political campaign... is now known as Organizing for America....

"A message from OFA national volunteer coordinators announcing the recruitment campaign and internship opportunities had been posted on several websites and on Facebook. 'Students and young people were critical in building the movement that helped elect President Obama last year. By becoming a National Organizing Intern, you'll be part of the grassroots effort to make the change we fought for a reality in 2009 and beyond,' it stated. 'As an Organizing Intern, you'll work side by side with OFA staff and community leaders to help build support for President Obama's agenda. You'll learn core organizing principles that are crucial for any campaign....'

"The announcement continues, 'President Obama describes his time as a community organizer by saying: 'It was the best education I ever had...' 'This is your chance to get that same education.... Volunteers commit to working at least 12 hours a week and, according to the OFA website, may receive college credit from their schools for doing so." See Training a Socialist Army of World Servers

Hollywood programming pursues Obama agenda: "An internal memo for a prominent Hollywood organization reveals plans to incorporate President Obama's political talking points into the storylines of shows on all four leading broadcast networks. The memo, uncovered by Jim Nolte, a writer for the Big Hollywood website, cites Obama's call 'for a new era of responsibility – recognition on the part of every American that we have duties to ourselves, our nation and world to serve others.'...

"The memo says 'unprecedented week-long of television programming on all four leading broadcast networks – ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC… beginning October 19' will feature 'organically" created storylines about service and volunteerism touching on the 'key issues' of education and children, health and well-being, environmental conservation.... Those subjects and such volunteerism have been key parts of Obama's agenda since even before he lobbied for and obtained the 'GIVE Act,' H.R. 1388...." See Mind Change and Collective Service

Obama urges people to serve their communities: "Calling public service 'the essence of our liberty,' President Barack Obama on Friday urged Americans to step up and volunteer in their communities.... The event was hosted by former President George H.W. Bush at Texas A&M University. Bush was the first president to create a permanent White House office dedicated to promoting volunteerism. The forum was affiliated with the Points of Light Institute."

The Hijacking of 9/11: "The infamous date of 9/11 is about to be hijacked.... The president signed into law a measure in April that designated September 11 as a National Day of Service." See Service Learning" through Soviet Brainwashing

Bachmann fears ‘politically correct re-education camps for young people’: "It’s under the guise of — quote — volunteerism. But it’s not volunteers at all. It’s paying people to do work on behalf of government.… I believe that there is a very strong chance that we will see that young people will be put into mandatory service. And the real concerns is that there are provisions for what I would call re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums." Civilian Militia. Department of Defense DIRECTIVE: "...an appropriately sized subset of the DoD civilian workforce is pre-identified to be organized, trained, and equipped in a manner that facilitates the use of their capabilities for operational requirements. These requirements are typically away from the normal work locations of DoD civilians, or in situations where other civilians may be evacuated to assist military forces where the use of DoD civilians is appropriate. These employees shall be collectively known as the DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce. Members of the DoD Civilian Expeditionary Workforce shall be organized, trained, cleared, equipped, and ready to deploy in support of combat operations by the military; contingencies; emergency operations; humanitarian missions; disaster relief; restoration of order; drug interdiction; and stability operations .... (4) CBVs for the Defense Intelligence Components will be included in a classified Intelligence Community-wide database." See Training an Army of World Servers

Squeezing Out the Faithful to Make Way for ACORN: "Should the federal government tempt people to cease volunteering at churches and instead be paid to 'volunteer' at government-subsidized projects? That’s the essence of the '...Serve America Act' which President Obama signed into law on April 21...

"President Obama, whose constituent groups such as ACORN stand to benefit handsomely, hailed the bill’s passage, saying, '... it is up to each of us to seize those opportunities.' 'Seize' is right.'...

"Generosity has been a hallmark of American character. It’s a product of the nation’s Judeo-Christian heritage, and it’s the polar opposite of cold, contractual transfers that characterize socialism. In fact, socialism is so ugly in practice that it has to destroy its competitor, private charity, hence the proposed assault on charitable tax deductions." Gordon Brown's plan for army of teen volunteers: "The Prime Minister said a pledge to introduce compulsory community service would be included in Labour's next general election manifesto.... 'And, by doing so, the contributions of each of us will build a better society for all of us." See "Service Learning" through Soviet Brainwashing

From Freedom to Servitude - Part 2: "Service Learning" through Soviet Brainwashing: 'Service learning' -- the heart of the Serve America Act (H.R. 1388) -- is grounded in Soviet ideology. Banning Biblical sharing, it reflects the old Soviet 'dialectical materialism.' Its basic formula is simple: 1. Immersion into a group [collective] environment with diverse beliefs and values.... 2. Dialogue led by facilitators trained to manipulate the diverse groups of servers toward a continually evolving new consensus.... 3. Practice (practical experience) that seals the dialectical group teaching in the minds of idealistic servers.

"Lenin understood this formula well. He said, '...the young people shall engage in the practical solution of some problem [a convenient crisis] of labour in common.'....

"Today the seeds of Soviet ideology are sprouting across America. Truth, facts, discernment and moral convictions fade -- drowned by a flood of mind-dulling, time-stealing trivia and distraction and choked by the tempting tentacles of dialectical compromise."

March 2009

Congress passes service bill: "President Obama issued a statement applauding the bill's passage. 'I congratulate the House on passing the bipartisan Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act. This is legislation that will usher in a new era of service in America.... Because of this legislation, millions of Americans at all stages of their lives will have new opportunities to serve their country. From improving service learning in schools to creating an army of 250,000 Corps members a year dedicated to addressing our nation's toughest problems. From connecting working Americans to a variety of part-time service opportunities to better utilizing the skills and experience of our retirees and baby boomers. This legislation will help tap the genius of our faith based and community organizations.... But while our government can provide every opportunity imaginable for us to serve our communities, now it is up to each of us to seize those opportunities. I call on all Americans to stand up and do what they can to serve their communities, shape our history and enrich both their own lives and the lives of others across this country.”

"After the Senate passage last week, Obama said in a statement that 'our work is not finished when I sign this bill into law -- it has just begun."

National Service Corps Bill Clears Senate Hurdle: "...the Senate tonight voted 74 to 14 on a procedural move that essentially guarantees a major expansion of a national service corps.

"...a national service corps, an army dispersed to help with education, health services and the environment, would vastly enlarge the notion of 'community organizing,' and allow, as Senator Barbara Mikulski, Democrat of Maryland, said tonight, for about 7 million people to be engaged in such work." Mind Change and Collective Service

House adopts plan for 'volunteer' corps: "The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a plan to set up a new 'volunteer corps' and consider whether 'a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people' should be developed. The legislation also refers to 'uniforms' that would be worn by the 'volunteers' and the 'need' for a 'public service academy, a 4-year institution' to 'focus on training' future 'public sector leaders.'...

"The vote yesterday came on H.R. 1388, which reauthorizes through 2014 the National and Community Service Act of 1990 and the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973.... Many, however, are raising concerns that the program... is the beginning of what President Obama called his 'National Civilian Security Force' in a a speech last year in which he urged creating an organization as big and well-funded as the U.S. military.....

"Groups of such 'volunteers,' would, under the legislation, be 'grouped together as appropriate in campuses for operational, support, and boarding purposes.... Another portion of the bill talks about a 'service learning' plan that will be 'a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.'" See Christian Service

This is the Army, Mrs. Jones! "The same 'volunteerism' that kept America running since the days of its founding, wiped out with the stroke of a pen, will no longer be volunteerism. It becomes forced labor and like the practice of another era, presses American citizens of all ages and creeds, unknowingly into military service.... The Give Act puts the finishing touches to Public Allies New Leadership for New Times, modeled after Saul Alinsky’s 'Peoples Organizations'....

"H.R. 1388 goes straight to the heart of volunteerism in America, impacting everything from the lemonade stands of neighbourhood children, to the residents of senior citizens homes.... Above the gates of Auschiwitz were the words: 'Arbeit Macht Frei,' ('work will set you free')."

February 2009

Defense Department Establishes Civilian Expeditionary Workforce: "The Defense Department is forming a civilian expeditionary workforce that will be trained and equipped to deploy overseas in support of military missions worldwide, according to department officials. The intent of the program 'is to maximize the use of the civilian workforce to allow military personnel to be fully utilized for operational requirements,' according to a Defense Department statement. ...

"The directive emphasizes, however, that volunteers be sought first for any expeditionary requirements, before requiring anyone to serve involuntarily or on short notice. Overseas duty tours shall not exceed two years. Employees in deployable-designated positions will be trained, equipped and prepared to serve overseas in support of humanitarian, reconstruction and, if absolutely necessary, combat-support missions.... All participants will undergo pre- and post-deployment medical testing, including physical and psychological exams."

Democrats Introduce Public National Service Bills: "...the legislation will 'create the architecture and the structure that will serve as the invitation for everyone to serve.'...

"A fourth bill, The ACTION Act, is aimed at increasing awards for AmeriCorps volunteers and reestablishing the Corporation’s connection with federal agencies. The bill would also grant the Corporation for National Service Cabinet-level status under the Obama administration....

"...Emanuel outlined the agenda for compulsory military-style training, essentially a domestic draft, aimed at preparing Americans for a chemical or biological terrorist attack. When controversy arose over the program last November, the use of the word 'required' to describe the program was removed from Obama’s change.gov website and replaced with 'community service' type terminology." See Obama's "Universal" Service Plan

November 2008

Emanuel volunteers Americans to do 'a lot': "A video of a 2006 interview with now-Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel for president-elect Barack Obama reveals plans for mandatory induction for all young adults into a civilian 'force.' ... However, after a flurry of blogs protested children being drafted into Obama's proposed youth corps, officials softened the website's wording. Originally, under the tab 'America Serves,' Change.gov read, "President-Elect Obama will expand national service programs like AmeriCorps and Peace Corps....

"In the interview, Emanuel was questioned whether participants in the proposed force would live in barracks. 'Somewhere between the age of 18 to 25 you will do three months of training. You can do it at some point in your college time,' he said. 'There can be nothing wrong with all Americans having a joint, similar experience of what we call civil defense training or civil service.'"

Will Department of Defense turn to meditation to bring World Peace? "Dr. David Leffler, an eight-year US Air Force veteran, now the Executive Director at the Center for Advanced Military Science (CAMS).... suggests that in the DoD's 'struggle to eliminate violent extremism,' eastern-style meditation techniques should be used:

'"Extensive scientific research indicates that the best way to reduce collective societal stress, eliminate extremism and thereby snuff out war and terrorism, is to adopt an ancient strategy. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has revived the ancient Vedic technology of Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) in a non-religious manner. It has been quietly and successfully used by members of many faiths to eliminate conflict in the past.' According to research, special units would be trained using Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM-Sidhi programs." See the first excerpt at Mind Control

September 2008

Obama calls for US military mobilization: "In remarks that clearly pointed toward the restoration of the military draft under an Obama administration, the Democratic candidate said Thursday night that his job as president would include demanding that the American people recognize an 'obligation' for military service. 'If we are going into war, then all of us go, not just some,' ...Obama declared...

"While 'national service' encompasses more than the military, including such government-run programs as the Peace Corps, Americorps and Teach for America, as well as private and religious programs, both McCain and Obama focused on expanding the US Armed Forces as a major goal of the next administ

What Does the Future Hold for Mandatory Public Service? "Barack Obama has centered speeches around this idea of public service. He waxes sentimental about what we can each do for our country. All in one speech, he said that we must 'answer a new call to service to meet the challenges of our new century' and that he 'won’t just ask for your vote as a candidate' but 'will ask for your service.' ... this is the cause of his presidency.... The idea that America’s youths should train like soldiers to serve government on the domestic front is contrary to the freedom and independent spirit this country was founded on. Furthermore, such programs are reminiscent of Soviet youth programs and Soviet job programs, and would similarly incorporate propaganda beneficial to the government in power." A military draft? (By Thomas Sowell) "People with little knowledge about the military, and no personal experience, often have the most sweeping and unrealistic expectations, and even demands, to make on people whose lives are at risk in battle.... The fact that we could use a larger army of the kinds of people who have already volunteered to put their lives on the line does not mean that we can get it by adding warm bodies fresh from our politically correct schools and colleges, where standards and self-discipline are greatly lacking. Just getting such people used to the idea of duty and discipline could be a major drain on the military, not to mention a plague of lawsuits from groups like the American Civil Liberties Union if the little darlings were not handled with kid gloves." US troops 'coerced to re-enlist': "A US congresswoman has called for an investigation into claims that Iraq war veterans were threatened with being sent to Iraq unless they stayed on."

Deposition on Cold War weapons testing contradicts Pentagon: "In the 1965 Copperhead test, a plane flew over the destroyer USS Power and sprayed it with a mist that contained BG and zinc cadmium sulfide. In a recent fact sheet, the Pentagon said that repeated exposure to cadmium alone could be toxic to kidneys and bones and also could cause lung cancer. The ship was decontaminated with betapropiolactone, a carcinogen....

"The lawsuit alleges that government officials, including then-Defense Secretary Robert McNamara, who served under Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, covered up the tests and denied medical information to veterans...'The cover-up was even worse than the testing part,' said Jim Druckemiller of Topeka, KA. "They knew about what happened, and they withheld medical care from the guys.'... Nearly 6,000 troops were involved."

November 2003

Rumsfeld Visits Asia to Discuss Adjustments to US Forces: "En route to Guam, Rumsfeld told reporters that no decisions had been made on whether to reduce the number of U.S. troops in South Korea or Japan.... Rumsfeld said in the post-Cold War era, the U.S. was moving from a static defensive posture to 'a footprint that recognizes it's not possible today to predict with precision where a threat may come from or exactly what kind of a threat it might be.' The U.S. and its allies need 'more agility' and access to a larger number of locations to face those threats....." CNS news, Nov. 14, 2003

Notice sparks return of US military draft fears: "A routine notice advertising the need for people to serve on US draft boards has prompted suggestions the Pentagon may restart the military draft. But officials have denied a move to return to the draft, which was abolished in 1973. 'There are no secret discussions,' said Pat Schuback, a spokesman for the Selective Service System, the government agency that would be in charge of conscription if the US had it." Yet a bill for such a draft has already been written: The Draft is Back - Again!

Reaction to Rumsfeld memo mixed: "...the memo said the United States has no way to measure whether it is winning or losing the war, has not made "truly bold moves" to fight terrorists and is in for "a long, hard slog" in Iraq and Afghanistan.... The memo suggested that the government might need a "new institution" to fight the war and should consider a way to counter radical Islamic schools that are churning out terrorists.... James Dobbins... director of international security and defense for the Rand think tank, said ... solving the problem may call for "restructuring institutions."

US raises spectre of conscription: "The American defence department has begun a recruitment drive for local draft boards, raising questions about a possible revival of conscription.... There has been no draft in the US since it was ended by Congress in 1973, the year that US troops pulled out of Vietnam.... Re-instatement would require action by the president and approval by Congress...."

Nato hints at undertaking pre-emptive missions: "NATO’s military commander said on Tuesday he sees the alliance taking on more stabilisation missions in the future, pre-emptively going into troubled regions to try to prevent them from becoming runaway breeding grounds for terrorists. US Marine Corps General James L. Senator Says Downed Chopper Lacked Protective Gear: "Many U.S. helicopters in Iraq lack routine anti-missile equipment that might have thwarted last weekend's attack on a Chinook helicopter that killed 15 U.S. troops, a Democratic senator said on Wednesday.... '

Mystery Illness Causing Major U.S. Casualties in Iraq: "The overwhelming majority of soldiers sent home for recovery from the current Persian Gulf War were not injured in combat but probably by a doctor’s needle. Were some “shot to death” by vaccinations?... A series of anthrax and smallpox vaccinations are blamed by some for leaving soldiers so gravely ill they have difficulty breathing and sleeping and experience loss of memory. Others have been diagnosed with lupus and heart ailments. At least six died shortly after receiving their shots. But the Pentagon has rejected such claims in such a routine and intimidating manner that many GIs say they no longer report the illness. They’re told to 'suck it up' and move on." Please pray for our soldiers. John 15:7-8

Plan for UN to run internet 'will be shelved': "An attempt by developing countries to put management of the internet under United Nations auspices is likely to be shelved at next month's world information summit in Geneva - but the issue is now firmly on the international agenda, summit sources say....  UN officials say they see no compromise emerging. They expect governments to decide instead to continue talks on internet governance with the aim of reaching accord by 2005."

Young Guns: "Dolores Paige told the Marine Corps recruiter he could enlist all the students at Willowridge High School -- except her son. 'I told him, 'You take all these kids if you want to, but don't you call my house -- you ain't getting my baby.'" Psalm 23

America's Ultra-Secret Weapon: "If there's a second Gulf War, get ready to meet the high-power microwave. HPMs are man-made lightning bolts crammed into cruise missiles. They could be key weapons for targeting Saddam Hussein's stockpiles of biological and chemical weapons. ...

"The powerful electromagnetic pulses can travel into deeply buried bunkers through ventilation shafts, plumbing and antennas. But unlike conventional explosives, they won't spew deadly agents into the air, where they could poison Iraqi civilians or advancing U.S. troops."

In contrast, Iraq's chemical and biological reserves alone could bring unthinkable, torturous harm and death to large civilian population centers. But let's pray that we can avoid war -- not the least for the sake of Christian missionaries who serve the poor in Arab countries. For war is certain to fuel explosive rage and revenge among militant Muslims. See Four Faces of Islam and Psalm 62:5-8
