Media Bias, CENSORSHIP & Propaganda (2006-2010)
Walter Cronkite, quoted in Censored : The News That Didn't Make the News-And Why
"All propaganda must be so popular and on such an intellectual level, that even the most stupid of those toward whom it is directed will understand it... Through clever and constant application of propaganda, people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way around, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise." -- Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampfore recent links
'Citizen Soros' now targeting messenger: "With a straight face he told reporters, 'It is a sort of disease when you consider yourself some kind of god, the creator of everything, but I feel comfortable about it now since I began to live it out.'...The edition illuminated the heart and soul of the mysterious leftwing transformer of societies, revealing how he creates and financially sustains scores of influential and shockingly anti-American organizations..."
Internet Access Is Not a 'Civil Right': "When bureaucrats talk about increasing our 'access' to x, y or z, what they're really talking about is increasing exponentially their control over our lives.... By a vote of 3-2, the Federal Communications Commission on Tuesday adopted a controversial scheme to ensure 'net neutrality' by turning unaccountable Democratic appointees into meddling online traffic cops. The panel will devise convoluted rules governing Internet service providers, bandwidth use, content, prices.....
"The 'neutrality' is brazenly undermined by preferential treatment toward wireless broadband networks.... Demonized industry critics have warned that the regulations will stifle innovation and result in less access, not more.....The parallels with health care are striking. The architects of Obamacare promised to provide Americans more access to health insurance -- and cast their agenda as a fundamental universal entitlement.....
"Broadband is becoming a basic necessity,' civil rights activist Benjamin Hooks added. And earlier this month, fellow FCC panelist Mignon Clyburn... declared that free (read: taxpayer-subsidized) access to the Internet is not only a civil right for every 'nappy-headed child' in America, but is essential to their self-esteem...
"The 'net neutrality'mob -- funded by billionaire George Soros and other left-wing think tanks and nonprofits -- has openly advertised its radical, speech-squelching agenda in its crusade for 'media justice.' Social justice is the redistribution of wealth and economic 'rights.' Media justice is the redistribution of free speech and other First Amendment rights....As the Ford Foundation-funded Media Justice Fund, which lobbied for universal broadband, put it: This is a movement "grounded in the belief that social and economic justice will not be realized without the equitable redistribution and control of media and communication technologies.' For progressives who cloak their ambitions in the mantle of '"fairness,' it's all about control."See Media-made "Foes" and Deceptive "Friends"
Is NPR For Sale? "It seems George Soros, sugar daddy of 1,001 leftish crusaders, personal hobbyhorses, and even some good causes, has just given NPR $1.8 million to hire a hundred new reporters." See Forging a New Global Consciousness
Will you be forced to dump TV too after hearing all this? "Obscene language on primetime television, according to a new study, is on a meteoric rise in both frequency and intensity.... 'Profanity is far more frequent and the profanity itself is far harsher than just five years ago. Even worse, the most egregious language is being aired during the timeslots when children are most likely to be in the audience.'" See Toying with Death
Free-Speech Battle in Mosque War: "It seems that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is not a big fan of freedom of speech. He says that opponents of the Islamic supremacist mega-mosque that is set to be built at Ground Zero should be ashamed of themselves and should just shut up....
"It started last month when I signed a contract with CBS Outdoor to run a 'Preservation of Ground Zero' bus ad campaign. We paid for the campaign in full. The ad was refused. When I asked why, CBS Outdoor told me that the city said that 'images of 9/11 were not allowed.' I was floored. I said, 'It is American history. How can it be banned?'” See Media-made "Foes" and Deceptive "Friends"
Future of the News: "It's a frightening thought: government takeover of the media. But having tightened their grip on health care, financial services, and energy, it's only logical that the Democrats should turn their attention to the media. Discussions underway at the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission point toward a dangerous new effort to regulate what Americans read and hear. The takeover under discussion would apply across the board to print media, radio and television, and the internet. The result of proposed regulations would be nothing less than an end to free speech in America." See Unalienable Rights?
When the Watchmen Are Silenced: "Government could impose a fairness doctrine on the internet as well as on radio -- thus forcing conservative media to 'balance' their programming by including liberal commentary. Government would also be granted a wide range of options for subsidizing liberal media....
"It was Goebbels manipulation of the media that brought Hitler to power and secured his control over Germany right up to the end of the regime. It was Goebbels who organized the candlelight processions, mass meetings, national radio broadcasts (over the objection of independent station owners,) and the eventual seizure of all print and electronic media."
Soros-funded group wants feds to probe talk radio -- Says cable-news networks engaged in 'hate speech': "A George Soros-funded, Marxist-founded organization with close ties to the White House has urged the Federal Communications Commission to investigate talk radio and cable news for 'hate speech.' The organization, calling itself Free Press, claims media companies are engaging in 'hate speech' because a disproportionate number of radio and cable-news networks are owned by non-minorities....The petition contends 'traditional media' have 'largely failed' to "provide the accurate information needed for an informed democracy.'"
TSA to Block "Controversial Opinion" on the Web: "The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is blocking certain websites from the federal agency's computers, including halting access by staffers to any Internet pages that contain a 'controversial opinion.'... There is also no explanation as to why controversial opinions are being blocked."
This "controversial opinion" would probably not be blocked: CNN reporter on terrorist: 'I respect him a lot': "'Sad to hear of the passing of Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah... one of Hezbollah's giants I respect a lot,' wrote CNN senior editor for Middle East affairs Octavia Nasr."
World Opinion equals Left-Wing Opinon: "Here are examples of major world issues and what is deemed 'world opinion.'
- Hatred of President George W. Bush and admiration of President Barack Obama
- Manmade carbon emissions lead to global warming.... [See Climate-Gate]
- Israel is bad, as exemplified most recently by the Turkish flotilla incident.
- The American free-enterprise system is inferior to Europe's welfare-state systems.
- The American health care system is inferior...'"See Media-made "Foes"
White House stifled reporter...[denied "accesss to Kagan's brother"]: "'The Obama White House has no business interfering with independent press investigations of Ms. Kagan,' said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch. 'These documents show that the Obama White House could care less about transparency on the Kagan nomination and is no friend of an independent media.'" See The Merging of the Americas in a New Global Order
New article: Global War on Christian Values - Part 3: Media-made "Foes" and Deceptive "Friends": "The mainstream media presents a strange paradox. It highlights anti-Christian sentiments and minimizes Muslim violence. It fuels global rage against Israel... but praises Islam as a 'religion of peace.' Why?
"One reason is simply the Obama administration's new media policies....
"History offers another clue. Both Hitler and Stalin built extensive propaganda systems that would broadcast false promises and mandatory rules for political correctness. Both were determined to shift the focus of public rage away from their own devious agenda to a hateful image of a 'single adversary.'...
"...our Department of Homeland Security has prepared an Orwellian list of America's 'enemies.' Notice its subtle suggestions that faithful Christians who oppose abortion and lawlessness would be included..."
U.N. Rights Council Backs 'Censorship' Watchdog, Elevates U.S. Foes: "The United States and its allies suffered a series of setbacks at the United Nations on Friday as the Human Rights Council flirted with media censorship and was poised to elevate an anti-American politician and a Cuban to key positions. Concerns about censorship were raised after the 56-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), which has tremendous sway in the United Nations, successfully pushed through a resolution that creates a watchdog to monitor how religion is portrayed in the media. ...the United States and the European Union members on the council opposed the resolution, fearing that it will censor the press and muzzle freedom of expression." See Trading U.S. Rights for UN Rules
The Obamacare-is-good-for-you blitz: "In all the ads you'll be seeing... heralding the wondrous rewards of Obamacare, any reference to the dread word, 'rationing,' will be impossible to find. With rigorous face-saving logic, the president began this campaign to protect Democratic candidates in the midterm elections....
In , a woman told Obama that her 100-year-old mother... had been refused by her cardiologist to insert a pacemaker. But another specialist...performed the procedure. Would her mother have been given similar care under Obamacare? The president of the United States pondered the question briefly, and answered: 'Maybe (she would be) better off not having the surgery and taking a pain killer.'"
Obama vs. Freedom of the Press: "Jon Leibowitz, chairman of Barack Obama's Federal Trade Commission, is at the epicenter of a quiet movement to subsidize news organizations, a first step toward government control of the media.... A May 24 working paper on 'reinventing' the media proposes that the government impose fees on websites, such as the Drudge Report, that link to news websites....
"As he [Obama] has done with the banks, AIG and the car companies, he extends his left hand offering subsidies and then proffers his right laden with regulations. Should the government follow through... it will induce a degree of journalistic dependence on the whims of government.... [It] represent a chilling threat to the First Amendment and to our civil liberties."
The Cuban Terrorist Trade: "Mexican investigative reporter, José Antonio Pérez Stuart, has uncovered links between the international publicity campaign against Arizona and money from powerful Latin American narco-Castroite mafias.... Mexican newspapers have also revealed that a Cuban gentleman named...'El Boris' del Valle, son of Cuba’s former Minister of the Interior (KGB-trained secret police/intelligence) and a relative of Fidel Castro’s wife... was the 'hands-on' operative for the smuggling of drugs and humans into the U.S..... '
"...a nation classified by the U.S. State Dept. as a State Sponsor of Terrorism (Cuba) is likely helping smuggle Al Qaeda–allied terrorists into the U.S.... And what is the Obama administration’s response to it all? Why, let’s abolish those hideously embarrassing Bush-era restrictions and make it easier for Cubans to travel to the U.S...” See Alinsky's Rules for Radicals
In 2002, Helen Thomas Exclaimed 'Thank God for Hezbollah': "'She's always said crazy stuff,' said National Review Online columnist Jonah Goldberg. 'One reason she gets a pass is that there's an entrenched system of deference to seniority in the White House press corps....
"'Helen Thomas offered the official Hamas position, as far as I can tell. There's a level of insensitivity that's almost comical in what she said, to tell Jews to go back to Germany..."
"...in a 2002 conversation at the White House, Thomas said 'thank God for Hezbollah' for driving Israel out of Lebanon, adding that 'Israel is the cause for 99 percent of all this terrorism.'"
Helen Thomas retires over Israel comments: "'Her decision came after her controversial comments about Israel and the Palestinians were captured on videotape and widely disseminated on the Internet.'... She is 89, and since 2000 has been a columnist for Hearst. She earlier covered the White House for United Press International. Her remarks included that Israelis should 'get the... out of Palestine.'...
"'She has poured mud all over my family's name,' [Victoria] Hearst told WND. 'I've never heard any Hearst family member make an anti-Semitic remark.... As founder and director of Praise Him Ministries and Ridgway Christian Center in Ridgway [in Colorado]...Hearst 'loves Israel and the Jews.'" See Global War on Biblical Values
Obama's FTC plan to reinvent America's news media: "...a year ago the new Democrat administration of Barack Obama launched a major internal study intended to design a major government rescue plan for the nation's financially-troubled information media, primarily newspapers.... Government helping the press? Which press? How help? In return for what?...
"The Federal Trade Commission has just released a major staff study of modern American media titled 'Potential Policy Recommendations to Support the Reinvention of Journalism...."
Will journalists wake up in time to save journalism from Obama's FTC? "President Obama is determined to federalize the news industry just as he has banking, autos, and health care.... Those in the administration who clearly view independent journalism as an obstacle to 'change we can believe in' and their numerous allies in the old media, non-profit, and academic communities who either share a similar ideological vision or see the FTC process as their salvation against the Internet, will no doubt dismiss my assertions as extemism or alarmism....
"The authors [of the FTC document] hide this dangerous intention behind carefully worded expressions of concern for preserving 'quality journalism' and 'addressing emerging gaps in reporting...' >
"Better to explain yet again that the original intention of the Founders with respect to the media - 'Congress shall make no law respecting... the freedom of the press' - is the key to saving independent journalism."'See Forging a New Global Consciousness
Liberal Groups Want FCC to Police Talk Radio, Cable News: "The groups assert in the letter that 'hate, extremism and misinformation have been on the rise... as the media has focused on Arizona’s passage of one of the harshest pieces of anti-Latino legislation in this country’s history.' The organizations include the Center for Media Justice, the Rainbow Push Coalition, the League of United Latin American Citizens, the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, and Common Cause....The groups also argue that the Internet has made it more difficult for the public to separate 'the facts from bigotry masquerading as news.'"
President in rift with reporters? "...the official pointed out how the White House provided communications and food to the Washington press corps but segregated the local media to an auxiliary room with nothing but a lone TV monitor and a pitcher of water. '"It was a disgrace,' confided the West Point official, who also admitted he was embarrassed by the episode....'If you are not White House press, they just don't care,' said a second West Point official.
"The West Point bumbles came on the heels of Obama's visit to New York May 13 when press credentials were confirmed only hours before the president's arrival, leaving many to pass on media coverage.....Last Friday, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs... was asked whether the administration, in lieu of British Petroleum's failures in the Gulf of Mexico, 'just stands there as a spectator and hopes for the best?'" See Media Censorship
Reporters to need government licenses? "A Michigan lawmaker says people have the right to know reporters are credible and have 'good moral character,' so he's proposed a procedure to license journalists and document their credentials, background and experience."
Go to Signs of the Times to see a sobering example of biased reporting. Could such a procedure simply silence reporters who present unwanted and supposedly "extremists" facts? We may be headed for such media control in the future. May 2010
Government-run media system in U.S.? "A George Soros-funded, Marxist-founded organization calling itself Free Press has published a study advocating the development of a 'world class' government-run media system in the U.S....
"[Obama's 'Regulatory Czar,' Cass] Sunstein argued websites should be obliged to remove 'false rumors' while libel laws should be altered to make it easier to sue for spreading such 'rumors.' In the 2009 book [On Rumors], Sunstein cited as a primary example of 'absurd' and 'hateful' remarks, reports by 'right-wing websites' alleging an association between President Obama and former Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers....
"Among the examples of speech that should be banned, Sunstein offered, is advocating that the theory of global warming is a deliberate fraud. Among the examples of speech that should be banned, Sunstein offered, is advocating that the theory of global warming is a deliberate fraud." See Forging a New Global Consciousness
Whitewashing Koran-Inspired Murders: "James Larry, a Chicago Muslim, has confessed to brutally murdering his wife, his seven-month old son Jihad, and two of his nieces.... Larry was a prison convert to Islam who had been arguing with his wife over her refusal to become a Muslim and wear Islamic clothing. His sister revealed that he had been clutching a copy of the Koran and telling relatives that '“something in the book told him to kill someone.'
"Were James Larry a Christian, his murders would be front-page headlines, and talking heads on all the networks would be discussing in hushed tones the dangers of Christian fundamentalism.... But James Larry is a Muslim.... The phrase 'Islamic terrorist' no more links the whole religion of Islam to criminal activity than the phrase 'Italian fascist' links all Italians to fascism." See Forging a New Global Consciousness
Increasingly Anti-religious America Ignores Wave of Church Arsons: "You may have been surprised to learn about the 10 East Texas churches burned down by arsonists since the beginning of the year. ...the mainstream media was largely silent on the whole matter—not giving it much coverage until two men were arrested. What was getting plenty of coverage were stories like whether Tiger was truly sorry....
"One might argue that these church burnings weren’t a big deal because they haven’t been focused on one particular racial or ethnic group.... In fact, it would have caused a national stir—church or no church—if facilities housing groups advocating issues like global warming, animal rights, abortion or gun control had gone up in flames....
"Why wasn’t there reason enough to stir a little outrage, ruffle a few headlines, earn a few sound bites on an evening newscast prior to that? Because religion is 'out.' This complete lack of any church fire alarm is just the latest evidence of the increasing effort nationwide to marginalize religion and the church in this country." See Global War on Christian Values
This case of homosexual-related crimes being ignored by the national media is hardly unique." See The Mainstream Media
Media 'covering up sordid, gay-on-gay murder': "...there has been no mention in the mainstream press of what actually happened in the basement of Fred Wilson's home in South Portland.... Wilson was a member of Portland's Harbor Masters homosexual leather club, a group dedicated to the practice of sadomasochism....
The $50 Billion New Socialist Media: "McChesney recently introduced Obama's anti-American pastor Jeremiah Wright at a celebration of the socialist publication Monthly Review. Wright praised Marxism and called America 'land of the greed and home of the slave.' .... The one-sided nature of the show is ironic..." See Smiling at Socialism
White House's Two-Minute Hate: " If the Bush administration had spent two consecutive weeks urging the nation's media to ignore anything reported by, say, The New York Times because the paper obviously had it in for the White House, the resulting chorus of outrage would have broken your eardrums. [In contrast]...the reaction from the national media to the Obama White House's campaign against Fox has been muted -- Politico calls it a 'collective shrug.'"
Media's excuses for Hasan's mass murdering: "'Have we totally lost our moral bearings? Nidal Hasan (allegedly) cold-bloodedly killed 13 innocent people. His business card had his name, his profession, his medical degrees and his occupational identity. U.S. Army? No. 'SoA' – Soldier of Allah.'... 'Gen. George Casey, the Army chief of staff, says he's worried ... about a backlash against Muslims by Americans who are worried, no, not worried, but wary, of prospective Islamic terrorists all around, including some embedded in the military." See Brainwashing in America
How the FCC and Liberal Churches Are Scheming To Shut You Up: "Left-wing church leaders want the Federal Communications Commission to crack down on 'hate speech' over cable TV and right-leaning talk-radio airwaves.... The 'interfaith coalition for media justice' is led by the United Church of Christ....
"Open-borders groups have sought to marginalize, criminalize and demonize those of us who have raised our voices for years about lax immigration enforcement -- and to impose an Orwellian Fairness Doctrine-style policy on illegal alien amnesty opponents. During the presidential campaign, the National Council of La Raza launched a 'We Can Stop the Hate' project to redefine tough policy criticism from the right as 'hate.'" See Forging a New Global Consciousness
Sunstein: Force broadcasters to air 'diversity' ads: "The U.S. government should have the right to force broadcast media companies to air commercials that foster a 'diversity' of views, argued President Obama's newly confirmed regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein. 'If it were necessary to bring about diversity and attention to public matters, a private right of access to the media might even be constitutionally compelled....
"Sunstein wrote that the judicial system should interfere by creating a right to ensure private media companies do not have the final say in rejecting 'diversity' commercials.... 'All viewpoint discrimination would be banned,' Sunstein writes." See Adapting the Constitution to a Global Consensus
Regulatory Czar may target internet for "fairness": "Cass Sunstein, is in support of a form of internet fairness doctrine. Read: Censorship.... He has proposed, among other things, a 'notice and take down' law. - Essentially a provision that would require websites to take down 'falsehoods' upon notice from the federal government. And what is considered a 'falsehood,' and who determines what falls into this category? ... Would information representing a Public official (Say, maybe a Czar) in bad lighting be considered a falsehood? Sunstein has claimed the notion that Barack Obama ‘paled around with terrorists’ is a lie, despite the documented connection between Bill Ayers and the President. The term 'falsehood' could easily be used as a tool to silence politically inconvenient reports.
"So, would his evaluation of what determines a 'falsehood' be directed at limiting the choices or opinions on the internet? Most assuredly. It does not take a conspiratorial mind to think the man appointed with creating regulations and implementing new regulations would be a supporter of more regulations. The Czars so far appointed, seem aimed at limiting the freedom of many individuals for the common 'good.' Executive pay czars, a Czar for science, a regulation Czar, and auto Industry Czar, etc. ... They are an intimidation tactic (as they always have been) used to manipulate the public into compliance with the world view of the President's administration. What about sharing God's Word? Could that be considered an intolerable 'falsehood' that calls for censorship? It reminds me of the apostle Peter's response to leaders who despised Jesus: "... we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:19
Press focuses on Shepard death, ignores homosexuals' brutal murder of boy: "As the 10th anniversary of 13-year-old Jesse Dirkhising's tragic murder and rape by two homosexuals approaches, the young boy remains victim of a second burial – by the American media.....'The Laramie Project – 10 Years Later' will debut in more than 100 theaters in all 50 states and seven countries Oct. 12, the 11th anniversary of Shepard's death, in an effort to raise awareness about 'hate crimes.' ...But, even on the anniversary of his death, another boy's horrific murder continues to be largely ignored."
60,000 pray in Times Square! "Event organizers from Time Square Church had expected some 15,000. But their expectations were far exceeded.... Despite the magnitude of the event, no major media covered it – even in the center of the media world on a slow news day."
Heading for State-Regulated Press? "President Obama indicated he would support federal aid to stop the death of newspapers – but critics warn a bill in Congress could mean strict regulation of political content and IRS scrutiny of newspapers that step out of line.
"...publishers still in bankruptcy proceedings include owners of the Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune.... In the midst of the newspaper decline, more Americans are looking to the Internet.... Obama said.... 'I am concerned that if the direction of the news is all blogosphere, all opinions, with no serious fact-checking, no serious attempts to put stories in context..."
The opposite is true! Factual and objective information can be found on many websites, but the mainstream media caused its own failure by its liberal bias, scornful lies, and unethical reporting leading up to the 2008 elections. See Orwell's 1984 and Internet Control & Censorship
Obama May Consider Nonprofit Status for Newspapers: "Would all newspapers — or only politically-favored ones — get secure tax-free status? ... Such a nonprofit newspaper would in theory be prohibited from publishing an editorial for or against a particular candidate.... But what would prevent such a newspaper from slanting its coverage to present only good things about one candidate and only bad things about her opponent?... Making newspapers dependent on an arbitrary non-profit tax status will give him control over them." See Real Conspiracies - Past and Present
Internet Control & Censorship. W.H. collects Web users' data without notice: "The White House is collecting and storing comments and videos placed on its social-networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube without notifying or asking the consent of the site users, a failure that appears to run counter to President Obama's promise of a transparent government and his pledge to protect privacy on the Internet."
Internet censorship going global: "On June 4, 1989, the Chinese government implemented lethal force against students peacefully protesting for political reform. It is thought that thousands of unarmed students were killed [by government order] in the melee, which remains a taboo topic within China.... '...the Chinese authorities want to quash any chance of its citizens discussing the historic event..." SeeBrainwashing and "Education Reform"
Censoring Dissent. Pelosi Says Healthcare Protests May Turn Violent: "...the California Democrat was asked whether she was worried about the tone of the debate. She said it reminded her of the 'frightening' rhetoric over gay rights that roiled San Francisco in the 1970s and culminated in the murders of Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone. She says those spouting hateful rhetoric must take responsibility for any 'incitement' they might cause." According to Homeland Security, simply criticizing Pelosi's agenda could be considered 'hateful rhetoric.'"
The Plan for Government-Funded Socialist Media: "... the Ford Foundation is a major underwriter of the Center for Social Media of American University, a project headed by left-wing activist Patricia Aufderheide, who says that 'Taxpayer funds are crucial...' to creating new 'public media.' This group got money under a $50 million Ford Foundation program to create and strengthen 'public media.'...
"The Benton Foundation, another major liberal foundation, is spearheading efforts to get the federal 'stimulus' money into the hands of 'progressive' groups and state and local governments....'" See The Global Media Censors Benton Foundation: Reaching for the American Dream by Connecting our Nation: "As president, I will set a simple goal: every American should have the highest speed broadband access - no matter where you live, or how much money you have." [Presidential candidate Obama, 2008]." See George Orwell's 1984
Capitalism is evil," says new Michael Moore film: "...the 55-year-old launches an all out attack on the capitalist system, arguing that it benefits the rich and condemns millions to poverty. 'Capitalism is an evil, and you cannot regulate evil,' the two-hour movie concludes. 'You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy.'" See The Power of Suggestion
Whither the watchdogs? "The largest and most influential news-gathering organization in the world, the Associated Press, is delivering content to its subscribers created by groups with financing from philanthropist George Soros and another 'progressive' billionaire who campaigned for Barack Obama and topped donor lists to groups like ACORN and MoveOn.org.
"AP content drives the news agenda more than any other agency in the world. ...because of its influence and worldwide reach, directly affects what is reported as news on the major networks, cable networks, radio networks and even the other international wire services." See Forging a New Global
The National Endowment for the Art of Persuasion? "...I was invited by the National Endowment for the Arts to attend a conference call ... hosted by the NEA, the White House Office of Public Engagement, and United We Serve. The call would include 'a group of artists, producers, promoters, organizers, influencers, marketers, taste-makers... to promote a more civically engaged America and celebrate how the arts can be used for a positive change!'...
"Throughout the conversation, we were reminded of our ability as artists and art professionals to 'shape the lives of those around us. The now famous Obama 'Hope' poster... [and the] 'Yes We Can' -- song and music video were presented as shining examples of our group’s clear role in the election....
"Through providing guidelines to the art community on what topics to discuss and providing them a step-by-step instruction to apply their art form to these issues, the 'nation’s largest annual funder of the arts' is attempting to direct imagery, songs, films, and literature that could create the illusion of a national consensus. This is what Noam Chomsky calls 'manufacturing consent.'... This is just the beginning."
GOP Not Allowed to Say 'Government-Run Healthcare': "Carter received an email from the Franking Commission informing him of the censorship.... 'What we proposed as language was as follows, ‘House Democrats unveiled a government-run health care plan,' Carter said. 'Our response from Franking was, ‘You cannot use that language. You must use, ‘The House majority unveiled a public option health care plan'…'"
"'I would submit to you this is a free speech issue, guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States,' Carter said.... 'Republicans will be forced to use the Democrats' version of language describing their attempted government takeover of healthcare on their official communications..."
Regulatory Czar may target internet for "fairness": "Cass Sunstein, is in support of a form of internet fairness doctrine. Read: Censorship.... The Czars so far appointed, seem aimed at limiting the freedom of many individuals for the common 'good.'"
Cass Sunstein's despicable ideas on regulating the internet: "Cass Sunstein, a Harvard Law professor who has been appointed to a shadowy post that will grant him powers that are merely mind-boggling, explicitly supports using the courts to impose a 'chilling effect' on speech that might hurt someone's feelings. He thinks that the bloggers have been rampaging out of control and that new laws need to be written to corral them.... 'We hardly need to imagine a world, however, in which people and institutions are being harmed by the rapid spread of damaging falsehoods via the Internet,' he writes. 'We live in that world. What might be done to reduce the harm?'...
"Sunstein's book is a blueprint for online censorship as he wants to hold blogs and web hosting services accountable for the remarks of commenters on websites while altering libel laws to make it easier to sue for spreading 'rumors.' ...bloggers and others would be forced to remove such criticism unless they could be 'proven'. The litigation expense would be daunting..." See The Rockefellers, Morgans and the Global Media Censors
Right-wing fringe claims Obama ineligible for presidency: "A small group of fringe conservatives, many fundamentally opposed to the notion of an African-American as president, are challenging President Barack Obama's eligibility for the US presidency. [NOTE: The mainstream media is claiming that it is racism to question Obama's eligibility.] See next link:
What Obama's hiding and the media are ignoring: "Barack Obama's birthday is Aug. 4, and I hereby urge the president to bestow a party favor on the nation that elected him: a verifying look at the original 'long-form' version of his birth certificate. It's important to grasp the weird fact that this simple request, requiring nothing more than a nod of the presidential head, ranks as fightin' words to American journalists. ... The media have made their aversion to proof perversely clear: Whatever Obama does, their jarringly unified message is that he certainly should not direct the state of Hawaii to make public his original, long-form birth certificate."
Talk Show Hosts May Be Accomplices Under Hate Bill: "The Hate Crimes Prevention Act which has passed the House of Representatives by an overwhelming margin is now facing hearings in the Senate. There are already similar hate crime laws in place, however, this bill imposes much stronger federal enforcement, which is a clear violation of the Tenth Amendment.... The current bill will extend special privileges to gays and transgender individuals....

See Why "Hate Crime" laws would ban Biblical Christianity"
Obama Dismantles Free Press: "One of the lessons history teaches us is that the further a country moves to the left, the more restrictive its press becomes. In a true Marxist state, the press is an extension of the government and acts as the party's official mouthpiece. Competition, freedom to report accurately, and dissent are not allowed. Punishments for transgressions are swift and severe.... As our country lurches further to the left, we are starting to see the familiar pattern emerge." See Current Communist Goal
As part of the proposed new 'media infrastructure,' Free Press is calling for a $50 billion 'Public Media Trust Fund' to underwrite the creation of new jobs for journalists and the use of the existing federal AmeriCorps program 'to include journalistic activities." See The Rockefellers, Morgans and the Global Media Censors
Obama's dinner joke: "At the 65th Annual Radio and Television Correspondents Association Dinner... President Barack Obama openly acknowledged that mainstream journalists are to be credited with making him a celebrity.... 'Why bother hanging out with celebrities when I can spend time with the people who made me one?' Obama asked the crowd.... 'I know where my bread is buttered.'.... Obama also treaded on political thin ice with critics of the government's takeover of the auto industry, laughing about nonchalantly giving away car companies. Crediting a new 'plan' for fixing the auto industry to friend Oprah Winfrey, Obama quipped, 'If each of you will look under your seat, you will find that you get a car company. You get a car company. The Plan for Government-Funded Socialist Media: "Back in the 1970s, I learned what journalism was all about when I studied from Curtis MacDougall's classic textbook, Interpretative Reporting. ...a massive shift had taken place from objective news reporting to interpretative and advocacy journalism. Curtis MacDougall and his textbook trained several generations of journalists, and we are seeing the results. MacDougall ... ran on the Communist-controlled Progressive Party ticket. His son, Kent, also a journalist, came out as a Marxist, after working at the Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal, and he then became a professor at the University of California at Berkeley. ... MacDougall's Interpretative Reporting textbook criticized the media for being too soft on Senator Joe McCarthy. It ... taught journalists to think that anyone opposed to communism or socialism was an extremist. No wonder 'McCarthyism' has become a dirty word....

Michael Copps [Acting FCC chairman]: New Media Shouldn't Pay for 'Old Media Sins': "Change is different this time because it's riding on a wave of technology transformation the likes of which we've never seen.... The Durbin Doctrine’s Assault on Free Speech: "... there was also a little noticed vote in the Senate late last month that could enable the left to accomplish by government regulation what they could never accomplish with actual debate. ... DeMint’s amendment banned... the Fairness Doctrine which, prior to 1987, was used by the government to stifle free speech on our nation’s airwaves. DeMint’s amendment passed 87-11. Score one for free speech.
"However, Durbin’s amendment also passed, although by a much narrower 57-41 margin.... It forces the FCC to '“take actions to encourage and promote diversity in communication media ownership and to ensure that broadcast station licenses are used in the public interest.' In other words, Durbin wants to bring the wonders of government enforced affirmative action to our nation’s airwaves....

Durbin: 'Right-Wing' Radio Hosts Wave 'Bloody Shirt' over Broadcast Censorship: Senate Majority Whip Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) ... said that an amendment he is sponsoring that directs the Federal Communications Commission to promote 'diversity' in the ownership of broadcast outlets is nothing new and merely restates longstanding FCC rules.

"Durbin: ...the Durbin amendment said that broadcast licensees had to operate in the public interest. ... Cocky ignorance (by Thomas Sowell): "Obama... has written a letter to the Secretary of Defense, in a tone as if he is already President, addressing one of his subordinates. The Media Research Center studied evening news broadcasts from Jan. 1, 1997 through Dec. 31, 2001. The Story Stalls Here: "Fort Lauderdale’s Democratic mayor, Jim Naugle, has incurred the wrath of homosexual activists for publicly addressing the problem of men having sex in public places. ...the mayor backed an idea that would frustrate the thrill seekers: switching to automated stalls. Predictably, the 'gay community' came out...attacking the mayor as 'homophobic,' 'bigoted' and full of 'hate.' Critics said Naugle was undermining Broward County’s carefully cultivated reputation as a 'gay-friendly' vacation destination....
"Responding to the media-fed flood of criticism, the mayor... announced that he would apologize.... Naugle delivered an apology all right, but not the expected groveling.... POW Lawsuit Could Force Kerry To Come Clean On Vietnam ‘War Crimes’ Charges (Click on Special Features): "It isn’t dubious medals or Kerry’s disputed service record in Vietnam that is being called into question. This time Kerry may finally be forced to answer for the events that launched his public career, one that made him an anti-war hero for many American liberals and a turncoat for millions of Vietnam veterans.... The lawsuit challenges the basis, the factual accuracy of then-Lt. (j.g.) Kerry’s acrimonious testimony before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971. It was there Kerry’s public career was catapulted with his now ubiquitous portrayal of American soldiers as murderers, rapists and torturers 'who ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam... [and] razed villages in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan.'...
"It had it roots in 2004 with the documentary 'Stolen Honor: Wounds that Never Heal.' ...it is probably best known for not being seen.... Bible Should Have 'Fiction' Disclaimer: "...famed British actor Ian McKellen [Gandalf of Lord of the Rings], piped up: 'Well, I've often thought the Bible should have a disclaimer in the front saying this is fiction. I mean, walking on water, it takes an act of faith. And I have faith in this movie. Not that it's true, not that it's factual, but that it's a jolly good story. And I think audiences are clever enough and bright enough to separate out fact and fiction, and discuss the thing after they've seen it.'

Misrepresenting the Holocaust: "In February , President Clinton told the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. that 'Adolf Hitler preached a perverted form of Christianity.' That is patently untrue. Hitler was in fact an enemy of Christianity.... Consider his 1933 statement that 'It is through the peasantry that we shall really be able to destroy Christianity because there is in them a true religion rooted in nature and blood.'
"If Hitler was actually an anti-Christian, where did President Clinton get this characterization of the Führer as a kind of believing avenger? Perhaps, I am sad to say, from misrepresentations currently promoted in Holocaust museums and programs around the country. ...Of course, the American forces who liberated the concentration camp were composed of mostly Christians....
"Imagine my surprise when, as an adult, I found a riveting, true story that I had not only never read but had never even heard of.... Furthermore, a call to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, revealed that the book was not carried in their gift shop.... The book is widely known and read in Christian homes and schools around the country. It has been made into a movie. The book is The Hiding Place, by Corrie ten Boom, which tells the true story of how she and her family hid Jews in the Netherlands.... Why has it been in effect censored from Jewish reading lists on the Holocaust?...
"Unlike Herr Schindler, who saved Jews for whatever reasons he personally felt, the ten Boom family’s activities were directly motivated by their belief in Jesus. Freezing Point: "When the Chinese government closed down Freezing Point, the highly regarded weekly supplement of the China Youth Daily, China-watchers were shocked.... Spearheading this effort is a shadowy group of Communist Party officials entrusted with tremendous power and almost no accountability. Known as the News Commentary Group (NCG), this is an elite team of about 10 retired propaganda czars, who wield influence far above their administrative rank. Many are regional editors in chief brought to the capital to clean house at major newspapers....
"Their criticisms suggest a fondness for Cultural Revolution rhetoric: 'These two articles contain serious political errors'; 'We cannot promote economists who attack Marxism.'... Phrases like these may seem out of step with a globalizing China, but Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao have all used extreme leftist elements to clamp down on 'bourgeois liberal' tendencies....
"The NCG is a reinvention of censorship that allows the party to ensure 'guidance of public opinion' in an unruly market. The next three links explain the power of "memes" -- a word I first heard during a round table discussion at Gorbachev's State of the World Forum. The leaders were all in favor of using memes as propaganda to change minds and raise support for global communitarianism.
Attack of the memes (by John Leo): "'Meme' refers to a cultural copying unit that hops from brain to brain without much thought or any at all.... What Kaus means is that the mainstream media keep reinforcing ideas liberals want to believe, whether they are true or not....
"A related meme is that marriage is a civil right that a just society must extend to gays. 'Equality in marriage' reinforces the liberal belief that an entitlement is being arbitrarily withheld from an aggrieved group; again stoking the feeling that anyone who disagrees is a redneck....
"Even worse was the 'racist response to Katrina' meme.... The idea was to peel away growing Republican support among blacks by playing the race card. It worked. The rapid spread of the meme was the reason why a bland one-liner by entertainer Kanye West-- 'George Bush doesn't care about black people'-- unexpectedly became a famous quote." See The Mainstream Media
What is a Meme? "Examples of memes are tunes, ideas, catch-phrases, clothes fashions, ways of making pots or building arches. Just as genes propagate in the gene pool via a process which, in the broad sense can be called imitation. If a scientist hears, or reads about, a good idea, he passes it on to his colleagues and students. He mentions it in his articles and his lectures . If the idea catches on, it can be said to propagate itself, spreading from brain to brain." See Positivism and mass psychologyConsensus process. Wikipedia - Meme: "...one can roughly define 'meme' as any piece of information transferable from one mind to another. Examples might include thoughts, ideas, theories, practices, habits, songs, dances and moods. Different definitions of meme generally agree, very roughly, that a meme consists of some sort of a self-propagating unit of cultural evolution...." See Transformation
